SF Rocks!

http://www.comicbookresources.com/pr...id=809&disp=rr

Although the cover may look cool to the youngins here, here's a note about the book:

Baker's twin prongs of narrative assault in this comic have been (1) to satirize the recruitment and deployment of the mentally challenged by the military, and (2) to frame that satire within a thrilling, lascivious, gratuitous war action story. This issue focuses far more on the latter than the former. It's an all-out battle between a scantily-clad Felony (the bad-ass girl with the sassy attitude) and the forces of those-who-hate-freedom. Baker's use of the phrase "Mission Accomplished" gains hilarious potency in context.

What happened to the old school books like this one:

It appears that the run in she had with concertina that shredded most of her uniform also snagged the pistol from her now empty drop holster.

Nope, couldn't you tell it was a "red head" under that helmet. I think Gypsy's holding out on us about her younger escapades ...

Back to Warrior-Mentors original post, just did some research, and found at the Baker website the following:

"Kyle Baker's "Special Forces" limited series (Image Comics), based on the true tale of a man with autism who was accepted into the Army. His whole squad, as it turns out, are more special-needs than special-training..."

The creator seems to be a bit dense, IMHO. Agree with WM!

Holly

p.s.BW, Nope, not me. :-)
