Sir,

Having just googled, "JOHN ELDREDGE, Wild at Heart," there seems to be a debate ongoing about his book and theories. My question is what in the world your above statement has to do with the topic at hand?

Am missing the relavancy of it, but I could be wrong?

Wet Dog - Oil Workers

I worked on some oil rigs on a contract which sadly ended. I really left with a high opinion of the oil workers. Blue collar guys with White Collar brains.

Well in all honesty...I haven't always been as successful as I might lead others to believe in that regard. My wife still refers to me as "the biggest kid in the house." To which I normally reply, "nuh-uh...am not, am not!"

The new Man ----

Associated Press:

"Charlie Sheen smiled through a Comedy Central roast as Mike Tyson, William Shatner, actress Kate Walsh and half a dozen comedians riffed on his high-profile year... The 46-year-old actor is the subject of the latest roast, which was taped Saturday night at Sony Studios and will air Sept. 19 on Comedy Central...

The actor, dressed in a black suit, white shirt and red tie, smiled and laughed as roasters jabbed at his famous family, his notorious taste for drugs and prostitutes and his primetime firing... 'Charlie’s meltdown was so bad, Al Gore's making a documentary about it,' quipped comedian Jeffrey Ross, who was dressed as Muammar Gaddafi in a military outfit with fringed epaulets and a sash... Comedian Jon Lovitz also took a timely swipe at Sheen: 'How much (cocaine) can Charlie Sheen do?' he asked. 'Enough to kill two and a half men.'

Priceline pitchman Shatner reminded Sheen to 'book your next rehab stay through Priceline.com.'

Walsh, who is best known for her roles on 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Private Practice,' gave standup a shot at the roast. 'It's amazing, despite all those years of abusing your lungs, your kidneys and your liver, the only thing you've had removed is your kids,' she said to Sheen." That's what really had to hurt Sheen the most: out of all the comics and "celebrities" who lined up to mock him, the only one who really got him was a woman.

--------BT-----------

This stuff is just too funny.

I also questioned the Eldridge writing and the only part of the book I really took seriously was the quote from the book, as I have 4 sons and didn't want anyone teaching them to play "dolly".

I think the relavance is that men that do all the things above, invent games with violence etc. grow to become protectors from "wrong doers" (or grow the opposite way & use violence in a negative way).

I used the church example only from my experience in dealing with the way things are run in the church I attend. Every year I take the "confirmation class" to "Promisedland paintball" grounds for a one day "retreat". (Last year "Charlie Two" joined us, it was a blast!) There is a group of women that simply dispise the idea, and every year the pastor has to talk to them and remind them that, that is what boys do. they play "good guys n bad guys" etc. And every year they still pitch a fit.

If we allow those women that want things "toned down" to make the decision of:
"should we stop them from playing good guy/bad guy and make them play something not so masculine" or "lets not keep score, everybody wins!"

then we will not have any young men ready and willing to pick up a rifle and stand a post.

IIMO, that a good balance of both sides of the coin will do what 1stindoor posted from the article:

Quote:
Men who know how to deal out violence know that radical feminism’s tenets—that women and men are equal—are a lie. We know that women are not the same as men: not physically, mentally, or in terms of moral character.

Men who have fought know how difficult it is to stand against the crowd and that civilization is fragile and important. A man who has experienced violence knows that, at its core, civilization is an agreement between men to behave well. That agreement can be broken at any moment; it’s part of manhood to be ready when it is. Men who have been in fights know about something that is rarely spoken of without snickering these days: honor. Men who have been in fights know that, on some level, words are just words: At some point, words must be backed up by deeds.
Which is why my kids have nerf guns, then bb guns and soon to own their own shotguns. They will have learned to use both their minds and their brains if I've done it correctly...

I'm reminded of a scene in the movie "Braveheart" where young William is "eye-balling" Uncle Argyle's sword, "First learn to use this(taps him on the forehead with his index finger), and then I'll teach you how to use this(hold up the sword)"

I certainly was not intending to offend anyone here...

WD Sir,

IMVHO, All H-woode actors of today, with the exception of a few that volunteer for the USO or support our troops, can go F-themselves, and their self-deluysion of granduer. And, most of the females as well.

Wish more TV time was dedicated to REAL Heroes, like Our Armed Forces personnel, and their bravery, courage, and sacrifice.

darbs,

As a little girl, I loved playing with the Army men set my brother had...and my favorite guy was, Bazooka, b/c he just looked like the coolest guy with the biggest gun.

And I agree, "Agression is part of the masculine desgin," and I love that about real men.

But IMNSHO, there is a difference between that, and males who have to feel "manly" by keeping females subservient with degradation and violence towards them.

But it sounds like the women you are reffering too have never stepped outside their own shang-ri-la lives and cared about anything more than themselves.

Too bad for them, they are sheeple, and deserve whatever befalls them until they pull their own heads out.

My kids #2 and 3, when they were about ages 3 (girl) and 5 (boy), mixed their toys and games (Barbie flew a gunship).

The 3 year old had a stuffed animal which she simply named "puppy".
"Puppy" was involved in some sort of made-up game the kids were playing.

I couldn't quite here what they were discussing, but eventually the 5 year-old spoke up about an apparent rules violation.
He said: "No, puppy is all out of grenades".

My sister had a Barbie doll collection, listed, 'Malibu Barbie' had a condo, and red corvette. 'Divorced Barbie', came with everything.

One set, 'Barbie with Ken'. I later learned the disintion of Barbie sometime hahaving "sex - play house with Ken", dress Ken in metro-sexual clothes with obedience collar, etc., but she "comes" with GI Joe.

LOL WD Sir!

However, I will not comment on any sexual refference made...(I think I promised to be a good girl from now on! )

Cannot be the only girl that liked playing combat with GI Joe action figures, while they were raiding the Tinker Toys fort I made?

Okay...now that this is completely off topic, lets go back to topic, as I do not want to get in trouble! I hate it when I get in trouble!

I cannot but agree with you on all points especially in regards to womanizers, can't stand the lot of 'em...

And totally agree on the Bazooka guy... I always picked those over riflemen and the guy with the little bitty pistol and binoculars...
