Geeze i thought he went to the Q-course from 12th group in 87 and was a reservist. My bad Q-course must have been a gimme after having already served as an 18D in central america. Not sure why they even made him go to the Q-course kinda redundant don't ya think
whoops my mistake he was an 11c with the 2nbn 187 airborne inf from 84-86 , wait i thought he was a medic // an artillery guy wait i'm confused guess thats how those spooks do it, this guy is good .

ranger bn guys
got a serious question for the ranger bn guys here related to this jose story?
I went to ranger school from SF so not sure how the BN works.
He was a assigned to HHC 1bn 75 RNG 80-81.Only 1 yr according to his own records PFC at best. Medic 91A. Now as i understand it all newbies go to RIP. One of his buddies has vouched for him attending RIP. But ranger school as i recall is reserved for the leaders in the unit and only if a young guy is exceptional would he be sent to ranger school. Is this correct? And don't you have to sign up to stay in the BN for a period of time after ranger school as a pre-requisite?
Would a brand new cherry medic assigned to HQ even get a shot at ranger school when he was only in the BN for one yr? Seems to me there would be alot more senior guys ahead of him. Those slots were coveted.
When he showed up at his new unit 187th inf he had a ranger tab . I have not seen a pic of him with that ranger tab over a scroll.... doesn't this seem odd.
somebody wann school me from a rangers point of view.

Good, I blame you. "the road to hell is paved with . . . "
I just checked my "Give a Fu@k ometer" (E\F) and it hasn't moved off empty, yet . And there is little expectation for the future. (we need a 'yawny' face).

I put the info up at ArmyRanger.com and referenced this thread, his book webpage etc..
His Ranger claims seem to be just as fucked up as his SF claims.
As far as going to Ranger School from Battallion, usually everyone goes after they have proven themselves. Batt sends PFC's and have even sent PV2's. It just depends on OPTEMPO.
Back in my day, you could have gotten a slot immediately after arrival to the unit, or you could end up waiting two years to get a slot. I was in 3rd batt for 1 1/2 years and never went.

One year and out was typical of someone who was RFS, or Relief For Standards. RGR BN's used to have a high attrition rate with respect to incoming privates. Once you graduated Rgr School you would be immediately promoted to SPC, not always but it was the norm. It took me 15 months to get a Rgr School slot, and I was "online" in an Inf Platoon.

In his book he writes he was busted by U.S. Federalies for possession of an AK type assault weapon. I can't remember if that was the incident that he was busted from E3 to E2. I will have to check that.

Well if he was busted for anything like that doesn't seem like they would send him off to ranger school as a reward, wait maybe as a punishment. Prison has to be better then Mountain phase in the friggin winter.

Did you check the secret double naught classified classes? If asked, he should reply they served strawberry pancakes, and not blueberry. Shhhh.

So I am thinking of notifing his publisher. Turns out it is Xlibris. A self publisher. So basically, Harris is his own publisher, with Xlibris taking a cut for services and probably some sort of mechanical royalities I suspect.
