was trying to help
Guys to be clear i was trying to help this guy when he came to my attention back in SEP 10. My wife found his FB web page full of SF/ Ranger stuff i was curious.
So checked it out and saw he had posted his DD-214, i figured he was trying to defend himself from something. Thought i could help vet him so had my wife contact him. There were many fb chats back and forth from her to him as she stated her husband was SF and was in 7th GP at the time. I was but I was in signal company at the time so I probably wouldn't know many Team guys that could vouch for him. but i told him about PS.com and said lots of guys there that could help you get vetted. He gave her his phone number so i called him, again in my mind to help Vett him. His story and the house of cards he had built fell apart w/ a few simple questions. Like who was your team sergeant ?So i figured some stuff was true and other stuff embellished to sell his book. I would have to check him out thru some friends , SWCS and ranger BN.. those requests haven't turned up any info yet.
Here is some of his statements in chats w/my wife. If i did this right his words are in {orange}.

: ) I apoligize. Like I said its been a weird day. I was on 332 and 334 in 12th Group (88-91) and 771 and 773 in 7th Group (86-87). I was a med sgt based in Panama - Ft Sherman. He was probably at Ft. Bragg, Before okinawa. When he was in 7th Gp I was mainly in the 1st Ranger Battalion (80-82). I saw his pic (if thats him in the middle) Strangely- there is something familiar about him! And I have a bad memory! lol!

please call me. I understand your doubts. I do not need you to broadcast it. If YOU need to know I am real, that is enough for me.Author José Harris January 3 at 8:26pm Report
I just conferred with 8 "real" SFers that do know me and were in 7th group. They all suggested I ignore you. I will take down my DD214s. twoof them suggested for OPSEC reasons, but I hope you download a copy of them. I also asked military fakers to check me out thoroughly.
I WOULD like to hear back from you once you check out whether or not I GRADUATED the Q course. I may not be a "real" SF soldier in your book, but apparently to those who know me and served with me, I am. I asked them ALL if I offended them in anyway by using the 7th group flash, since I was only attached to them. They were unanimous- No.
I was going to stop using the 7th Gp Flash on FB because of you. I am not.
I do not need to be VETTED by you or anyone else. You made bold statements about me and that I am a fake. I hope you are decent enough, to not just go with your gut feelings but to find out the FACTS, there is the FOIA.
take care.

I did not ask them. I would not do that and bring his name into this. When I talked to him, I was nervous. I do not even know his first name. I am sorry about all of this. I wish he would have just messaged me. He did not care what I had to say, only that I could not answer some of his questions. I do not blame him. I hate posers. But I swear he is wrong. i hope he takes the time to look into the facts This is very very sad.
Author José Harris January 3 at 9:40pm Report
I deleted everything. My 214s, comments and orders. I am guessing he is your husband. I am not mad. If he does not like who I am, that is his right. But to straight up say some of the things he did was wrong.
I certainly am not upset with you and I hope we remain FB Friends. But I TRULY hope he looks into the FACTS. I do not care how many buddies he calls. I was no one significant in Central America. I have just as many buddies. The facts and the truth is what counts. Not assumptions. As I said, I do not blame him for doubting me. There are too many fakes out there. But I hope he has the decency to really check with Ft. Bragg. He seemed quite content that I couldn't answer some of his questions. That seemed to be all he needed to hear. It seemed like he ignored all of the relevant FACTS, names, places, units that I did tell him. He seemed to KNOW I was a fake so he only sought out to find any hole in anything I had to say. My military record is verifiable and indisputable.
While he or maybe you... might not care, I am really hurt by this. It saddens me deeply. I try to be a good, honest, positive person, who helps others. I just wish he would have asked before making accusations. He seems sure that he is right. I honestly do not expect to hear back from him. I am very very easy to verify, FACTUALLY... I do not care if no one he knows has never heard of me. That might work for him, but it means nothing to me.
He says my documents are fake. That should be incredibly easy to check out. Incredibly easy. Download it. Send it to the FBI. Tell them I am illegally claiming to have been a special forces soldier and that I am claiming I was awarded things that are not true.
He would not hear any of this. Forgery like this IS A FEDERAL CRIME. Forgery! there is also the Stolen Valor Act. He says that it irrelevant because I do not post pictures of me with medals on. If I publicly claim I earned them and I didn't, then that would be fraud.
And I publicly claimed I was awarded them.
Like I said, I have PTSD. I am 100% service-connected disabled because of it. Because of my service in Central America. That too is an easily verifiable FACT. With all due respect, seriously, what is his problem? Why did he choose to attack me today. I have many friends on FB that were in 7th GP in Central America. I talked to him to help try to ease his concerns. It did not help. He just kept attacking and accusing me. I do NOT NEED to prove anything to him now. But he should do the right and decent thing. And check on my records FOR REAL and stop calling up his "buddies."
I am sorry for all this. I am not used to this. Like I said, I deleted everything. I really did not want to do that. Now it makes it look like I might be hiding something. Its just sad. No winners today. only losers.
I do not need an apology from him. But I kind of hope he finds out the truth and does so. It would make him a better person. We could both move on. We ALL make mistakes. I do sometimes, but I admit when I am wrong.
Please take care. I hope I have not offended you in any way. I know HE is real. It is an honor to connect with him here, but it also is sad to do so in this way.
I then dropped waiting to get the real deal , then this thing took on a life of its own on FB and the military fakers web page. many good guys i know have questioned him there and have gotten the same half truths and out right lies.
At this point i don't know if he ever graduated from ranger school-- the only thing varifiable is he was in BN and went to RIP- ranger indoc program , you guys know thats not ranger school and doesn't authorize the tab. Fact he never served in 7th SFGA in any capacity unless you count hanging out with some sf guys at a range in the mess hall or at the club. Fact he never served in any Capacity w/ SF in Central America at all. His affiliation w/ 12th group reserve is proven but his having ever gone to the Q-course and served on an A-team as a qualified 18D is still in question. The only SGM that recalls him says he was not SF qualified.
Sorry for the long read but i said all along if i was wrong about this guy i would apologize and help him sell his books. I guess i have inadvertently put my rep out there so i would really like a call made on this guy! should only take a few more days.
I just cleaned this up a bit for ease of reading and changed the font color to orange because the red was giving me a headache - Richard

I wouldn't beat myself up too much if I were you. Certainly a little but, not too much....In the future you’ll have this site available to take lead of any vetting process.
.... I never tried to vet someone and had never personally met a poser (I don't think). I suspect it's probably easy to pretend to be someone you're not. Especially when you know enough to get your little toe in the door but, it will eventually catch up to you if you're a poser and of all things, you're stupid enough to write a book. I bet many of these guys have had an alias before and figured it would be just as easy to embelish, just a bit, and then build on that when so much information is so easily accessible. Sucks to be them though when a QP finds them and gets this process started....
They'll eventually ALL be found.....jd

thanks man but
Not beating myself up, have just learned that SF records are a mess and it takes longer than expected to verify this stuff. You would think by now there would be a collective effort to have a single source to verify all SF related claims. our system works better and faster ie just ask around. The mistake made (not just by me) and hence forth learned from was not to confront the guy and point out his flaws as this gave him cause to change his story and revise and now take down all the offending stuff on the web. Should of had all the evidence packed and wrapped i guess Team seargent was right , doesn't work as well when he sees you comeing. my bad , like i can't take a spanking
The good news is i have reconected with some old friends while ingaged in this sillyness so thats something.

Glad I didn't pay for it. It was a fun read. I guess I made the mistake in thinking it was NOT A NOVEL.

Anybody got any more of those "L" pills handy?

Even the title "Mi Vida Loca" was stolen. "Mi Vida Loca" was a movie about Mexican gang life in East LA. If you want to know why it is hard to get out of that life, watch that movie. After you watch it, you will understand "Pendejismo"...

Pendejo seems a most fitting word right now.

That "classified" war he says he served in is no longer classified. It was made public (unclassified) in the late 90's. I was there at Ft. Bragg when medals were awarded for that "secret" war.
Boy it would really suck for this guy if someone were to contact a Veterans Administration Investigator and give him/her this guy's name and his secret "claims". And that VA Investigator called Ft. Bragg, United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) to ask if this guy actually served in that "secret" war.
And, if he's not telling the truth, wow!

I've already been contacted and spoken to one Veterans Administration Investigator concerning an individual's "secret mission" claims.
I'd be happy to speak with another....
I wonder if this guy fought along side of wolfgang hammersmith?

Sounds to me as if they fought together in different wars.
