Just a light dusting on snow down here, just colder than a witches T*t in a brass brazier down here. Single digits for the high today.
Beef and Law-man....how you all fairing up there?

Well, geeze!
Greetings!
Well, here in Oklahoma we have been placed under a "State of Emergency", and oh my.
After reading TR's "Prepared" thread, I realize I have no generator.
The ice is comin down real hard now, just hope the power stays on.

LOL - that is true dedication!
Pic reminds me of a certain Seinfeld episode, where the woman walks in on George while he's changing after a swim . . .
Y'all stay safe out there.

Funny, but apples and oranges. I will not defend the behavior of certain citizens of New Orleans, but one cannot compare being stranded in a snow storm or being without power for a few days or even weeks to having your home completely wiped off the map, being without power for months if it did manage to survive, and realizing that you and one other guy on your shift are the only officers who lived. "Isolated" communities have nothing on "no longer even in existence" communities.
Mississippi went through the worst of it, and it was rare to see one of them howling on the news about it. Mostly N.O. urbanites who were living off the government to begin with, same as any other major city.

It's groundhog's day !!!!!!
For the 6th straight weekend, we've got another storm hitting the front range. The northeastern part of the state is currently under another blizzard warning.
So far I've got a good 4 inches of NEW snow with this storm, by my place....and IT'S STILL FALLING !!!!!
TS.....can't make you any promises that the state will be open when you come up here in a few months.

Last night my B-I-L said he ain't going to work today if the neighbor don't come by and plow the drive. He's snowed in "again".
Must be some good snow pack in the high mountains. Spring flooding? Thicker spring ground growth for fires in 08/09?

you didn't recover bodies on Route 128 after the Blizzard of '78 near Boston, did you...? you've never snowmobiled food or medication to elderly folks who couldn't get out before a blizzard, have you?

I didn't say snow storms weren't dangerous, but has one ever wiped entire communities off the map in such a widespread manner as a hurricane like Katrina? I'm sure no transplanted Yankees were harmed during Katrina or accepted government help afterwards, due to superior disaster survival skills.
