Here's my complaint
Quote:
I was looking at your online ad located at http://bestbuy.shoplocal.com/bestbuy...h&adref=header.
There is no mention of a Happy Thanksgiving greeting but in the lower left hand corner you have an image that says "Happy Eid-al-Adha". You have to put your mouse over this terrorist oriented islamic holiday to see a TRUE AMERICAN holiday.
What's up with that? Are you not proud to be an American company? Who proofed this ad?
I think I'll take my business to Walmart or Target. At least they still use AMERICAN greetings.

Using your link, I get the add for Florida City,,
and "Happy Eid-al-Adha" in not on the page??
The ad must be looking at a stored cookie on your system to get your zip code..
At the top of the ad it has "Preview our Thanksgiving Doorbusters"

Complaint filed........ Even with a KY or TX zip-code the Eid-al-Adha comes up.....
Next thing we will not be able to have a X-Mas of Hanuka sales add with out a Middle east add tacked on top. We are a country of immigrants but I think we should start selecting who we let in.....
No More of my money for Best Buy......Walmart or other's will now get it.....

Thank you for the link and complaint filed. I find this to be in extremely poor taste given the times in which we find ourselves. This is yet another example of PCness going overboard.

Filed my complaint this morning. I received an automated response stating they have a "large volume of emails" and recommended I call their help line if I wanted a response. It went on to state that if calling was not convenient I should reply to the email if I wanted my concern addressed. It did sound as if "inquiries" would not be addressed withotu a follow up email.
Needless to say, I emailed back to say to let them no there was no rush in addressing my complaint as I'm taking my business elsewhere.
I figure if they're busy reading/addressing my concern before someone else's (I did respond to their email after all), it might further hurt their profit margin.

If you're as offended as I am, feel free to copy (or change) the letter below and send it to everyone on your email list. I composed this letter with some help from Warrior-Mentor's Happy Thanksgiving thread and a phrase from Kyobanim. I hope you gentlemen don't mind my use of your words & ideas.

Best Buy wishes Americans a "Happy Eid al-Adha" during Thanksgiving week; fails to mention our own National Holiday.
Take a look at Best Buy's Sunday, November 22, 2009 advertisement circular inviting Americans to shop the electronic retailer's pre-Thanksgiving Day sales. In the lower left-hand corner of the advertisement’s front page is this chirpy little wish: Happy Eid al-Adha. Conspicuously missing is any mention of our National Holiday unless this directive counts: Shop Thanksgiving Day at Bestbuy dot com.
What is Eid al-Adha? It's a Muslim holiday. Best Buy wants to wish someone (certainly not patriotic Americans) a happy terrorist-oriented Islamic holiday.
Thanksgiving Day, in President George Washington's words, is a day to give thanks for: the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; For the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed...
Americans have a much to be thankful for, a great deal of which is in direct conflict with the Islamic beliefs. Take a good look at the words of George Washington again and then ask Best Buy why it wants us to celebrate a holiday from a culture directly opposed to the civil and religious liberty we cherish?
Boycott Best Buy and take your business to a company that is Proud to be American.

After about a 5-10 minute wait, I was able to register a verbal complaint. The official line from a customer representative is that Best Buy celebrates diversity.
