Top to bottom: - Ruger 10/22 from Wal*Mart
- Saiga IZ-109 12 gauge
- Century Yugo based on the Zastava M70AB2 AKMS
- M4 style carbine (CMMG lower and mid-length upper)
Just trying to get into the game before one can't get stuff like this anymore. Yes, they are for me, but I hope to pass them onto my son as he gets older as I suspect he may not have the same opportunities to acquire them as I did.
I don't think one of those special holographic sights will appear on the M4 due to budget and need. If anyone feels me as a civilian really needs one then I will be more than willing to listen to his advice.

The AR's. Next step is to probably sell the one with the carry handle and to get a suppressor for the 9mm.
I also just need to refine them overall. I.e. the BUIS are all different. I'd like to make them uniform, maybe get some tactical latches on the charging handles, rail for the 9mm, etc., etc. the fun just goes on.

This might help,...
KOZ -
This looks pre-Civil War, and having said that, a custom built weapon. It was England, France and a few other Euro countries that supported the North and South with "manufactured" weapons.
The rareity of having even matched ammo was a cause of concern for alot of Generals.
FYI -
Does any know that the Spencer Rifle was a breach loading, lever action, repeating arms rifle, (rounds were loaded through the shoulder stock)? But Lincoln instructed his Generals not to spread this information for he feared that it would confuse a soldier in combat. Generals thought that if a soldier knew he had to load a weapon each time he fired it, he would remember to do so in battle. I can think of a few battles that could have or should have had different outcomes if firing volley had been quicker or sustained. Each Spencer Rifle could hold 6 shells in the stock with one chambered.

There are no markings (no SN) on the gun other than the photo I posted. It has an octagonal barrel. The trigger must be pushed forward when the hammer is cocked, it's the only way to cock it. It looks to be somewhere around a .250 cal barrel.
Thoughts?

There were a number of breech loaders, the oldest one that I know of is the Ferguson's rifle. It was about Revolutionary war period. Sharps had a single shot breech loader, that fired a combustible cartridge. The Sharps reported rate of fire was 10 rd/min compared to a expected 3rd/min while standing for the rifled muskets. Burnside had a metallic cartridge that uses a standard percussion cap. Then one of the most famous was the Henry's rifle. The Henry's rifle was issued to the 101st Illinois during the war.
Also to be noted, std issued for a infantry soldier was 60 rds. 40 rd went into the cartridge box and 20 rds into the haversack.
As wet dog mentioned, logistic in supplying correct ammunition was a nightmare. Also because of powder fouling, officers would want smaller diameter rds issued. Accuracy and training with the musket was not much of a issue. The Army didn't consider it much until after Gettysburg.
One of the biggest impediment to modern firearm changes was General Ripley, in charge of Army Ordinance. He was from the Mexican American period and felt all the boys needed was buck N Ball. He would stall procurement of anything new. President Lincoln bought some hopper fed machine guns. Ripley sent them to farthest Army outposts to be tested, knowing it would delay the process.
BTW, My oldest shooter is a 1818 Springfield. It had a '42 Belgium conversion done (to cap lock) and then rifled for the Civil War.
