Ruger P89DC

Just picked up a Ruger P89 with safety decocker in 9mm. Feels great, the safety is a bit high for my hands but overall a good pistol for the money. Note the fine piece of literature in the picture.

I have the Ruger P89 as well. I hated the grips that came with it and changed them out for a Hogue Grip. I agree with you on the safety being high. Wait till you see where you gotta stick your finger to break it down! It's a good pistol for my .02, I can't even remember it jamming on me.

FNH SLP

Spent Saturday at the gun auction in Montrose, GA and came away with, among others, this NIB FNH Self Loading Police 12 gauge. So far I have only had the chance to disassemble, clean and reassemble. Looks to be a great piece though. Invector chokes, Picatinney rail on top, and two gas ports. One for loads less than 1 1/2 oz., and one for 1 1/2 oz. and greater.

I will put it head to head with my Benelli Tactical to see which one comes out on top (in the woods, against a pattern board), in the function and feel realm.

Yowza, sticking my finger in the chamber with the slide locked back to get to the extractor was interesting. I agree about the grips, I'll have to get the Hogue ones in the future. It is a bit hard to conceal on the side, but when worn on the back any old shirt will do the trick.

Haha. Just think, if you run out of bullets you could just club someone with the damn thing or if your out on your boat you'll always have an anchor!

When I'm breaking it down I'm always abit nervous sticking my finger down the chamber. I was cleaning it one day and my girlfriend decided to slap my back and in doing so I accidentally hit the slide release. She thought it was funny as hell. I however was not amused.

The problem with taking over as General Manager of a gunshop is that on occasion and invariably that ones weakness to new toys comes out. I have discovered that I either need to have a gun safe cleaning sale or buy another gunsafe. There is no room and thanks to a friend bringing in a rifle, that I mentioned I would give a part of my anatomy for, I need to decide what I want to do. Two of my recent purchases are shown here. The top is a Steyr Tactical HB with 16x Super Sniper Scope and McMillan stock. The Bottom is the newest (as of 4 hours ago) A Knights SR-25 Match with Springfield 4-14 tactical scope. A pair of .308's that are incredible. I have shot the Steyr and it loves my honey load with 5 shot groups just pushing outside of .25". It is so smooth and easy to shoot. I can't wait for some range time with the SR-25 and to get a Magpul stock installed on it. I also can't decide wether or not I like the Springfield Armory scope.

I just got this finished.

It used to be a 16 inch AR15A3, but after finishing my SBR paperwork and having a local smith cut, crown, re-thread the barrel, as well as open up the gas port. It is now a 10.5 inch SBR that runs flawlessely.

I'm still playing around with the lights to find the best combination for duty of weight, battery life, and lumens.... its an ongoing process.

I'm also thinking about adding a Noveske KX3 flash suppressor but I have no experience with one so I'm hesitant.... Anyone out there have one? If so what do you think of it?

Joe,

Nice looking rifle! I've had the KX3 on my .308 SBR for a little over a year now and will go a different way next time for several reasons.

First, it is not a flash hider. My rifle still resembles a flame thrower in low light.

Second, it is not a compensator. It actually increases felt recoil a bit!

Third, it is long and heavy. It will change the balance and handling of your weapon.

Fourth, you are likely to be confused with someone from barf.com.

On the positive side, the "flaming pig" looks cool. Also, by directing all of the blast forward, it is easier on shooters to your left and right in close quarters.

The last statement has dubious value, though. I spent two days on the line next to an SF medic who was shooting a 7.5" upper w/ A2 flashhider - close quarters, low light, you name it. It was really not that bad. I think that people whine too much. It didn't hurt me and didn't affect my shooting, either. I was more worried about him catching fire from the flames leaping out of the ejection port.

My next shorty is getting a PWS FSC556. It will control both flash and recoil without changing my weapon's balance. I know that some here have played with them already.

Are you kidding? All those high-powered, volatile batteries sitting around his house is a real and life-threatening danger to him and his family. What if they all blew up simultaneously? Even worse, he could be blinded if he accidentally shines even one of those Lights of Mass Bedazzling (LMB, you saw it here first folks) in his eyes. Joe, for the safety of you and your loved ones, send all those lights to me immediately. I'll gladly put myself in harm's way for your well-being, buddy.

And then again, there are those of us who are in the dark, no lights. It is unfair to have all those lights and I have none.

I would appreciate anyone of those gems that you could send me. As Razor pointed it, it would also add safety to your A/O.

Thanks Jatx,

I just ran across MM review I'll research the PWS as well.

My primary concern is blowing my ear drums out if I have to shoot inside w/o ear pro. I knew what I was getting myself into with the pressure isses of a 10.5 inch barrel when I got the SBR but I still want to be able to hear when I'm 35, 40, 50, and 60 (provided I live that long). A can is in my future but it will be a long while before I can afford one.

Now that is a true pal! Razor thank you I really appreicate your offer but I'm having way too much fun making the big bucks that I do being a rural Graveyard Deputy. When I retire with my millions I'll be sure to send you the lights.

Sorry HOLLIS, Razor beat you to them

Joe, I don't think the KX3 is going to make your baby any more soft-spoken! Time to get some Sordins!

I'm currently using the surefire's. I took out the red ear designator and plugged in my earbud tube (perfect fit). I sometimes pop the other surefire in when I go indoors, depending on how fluid the situation is. However, Most of the time I don't have time to put ear pro on. Like I said I knew what I was getting myself into when I got the SBR. The increase in manuverablitly and firepower indoors is worth the risk of blowing my ears out.
