For me, purely an entertainment project.
It launches 147 gr 7.62s at 2000 fps +/- I think it could serve some niches, but yeah... just a big loud blaster.

I guess it all depends on which mode of the SEF selector switch that you run on the most.

The photo is before applied the finish to the receiver. It is a Polish Tantal AK74. I really like shooting that round, it is fun and cheap to do so.

After slowly accumulating the parts, I’ve finished assembling this mid-length upper.
- 16” stainless steel barrel, mid-length gas, 1/7 twist, Wylde chamber, medium contour with M4 barrel extension. The barrel is a Wilson blank finished by White Oak Armament. It’s not one of John Hollinger’s White Oak Precision match barrels, but out of the box it shoots better than I can. I went over it with a 3M paint prep pad to dull the shine and rough it up a little, then sprayed and baked with Brownells Gun-Kote in matte black.
- Colt M4 upper receiver. The receiver came from a new LE M4 upper that a guy bought in 2000 and put away in his safe. No white T markings.
- Colt half-circle BCG. I replaced the blue extractor insert and spring with a Colt black extractor insert, copper-colored spring, and Crane o-ring.
- LMT CH with Badger tactical latch
- PRI low-profile gas block with set screws (the barrel is dimpled). I would like to pin it, but then I would have to send it out.
- Larue 12.0 rail with TangoDown panels
- Troy front/rear BUIS
- LMT A2 FH from my shorty
It’s a smooth-shooting upper, but with my limited experience, I cannot discern that the middy shoots softer than a carbine. My only complaint with this upper is the sight picture with the Troy front BUIS is very confusing to me. Again, likely an experience and training issue. I understand that Troy has redesigned their front sight, but I will keep this older one for now and try to focus harder on the front sight post.

Very nice! What sort of optic are you going to run?

Thanks! I am thinking ACOG or Nightforce 1-4X24 NXS (like on your Noveske). I had a TA33R-8 (on my carbine in some of the previous pics in this thread), but sold it to finish some of these builds. I will wait awhile to pick up an optic though, because a) I need to practice with my irons, and b) I only have ready access to a 50yd indoor range right now.
I am thinking of joining the club down at MCB Quantico. There's a window open at the moment, since they are required to maintain a set ratio of military to civilian members. The club does not maintain a set schedule for range availability, but at least I would have a shot at getting on the 300yd range. It would be nice to verify my zero at 200m, since my irons are zeroed at 50yd using LTC Santose's IBZ method.

Damn!
You're one up on the Reaper's weapons pictures!
Fine shots and a fine looking piece.

The Nightforce is great. At 1x, it is very nearly as fast as the Eotech or Aimpoint. Plus, the way it's built, you can always use it to drive tent stakes or something!

I picked this up from a friend. I never saw one before.
It was made in 1934, a Chinese Mauser. Looked like it was "hand made".

Gave my SPR a diet.
-Replaced the Magpul PRS with a LMT SOPMOD stock
-Replaced the ACOG TA55 with a Super Sniper (I know, I know, but with four kids, a Nightforce will have to wait). I did spend some cash on a case of BH MK262 Mod 1 (range report to follow).
Waiting on a Lower Profile BUIS because the Super Sniper was too low for the Matech BUIS.
On a good note, I am very happy with the OPS Inc. 12th Model. I thought that I would like the AAC M4-2000 Mod7, but the OPS is now my favorite can. Very quiet and sounds more like some sort of air tool instead of a .22LR (like what the M4-2000 sounds like).
