Worst Coin Story

I read this and thought about a time I had been HAD!

A bunch of folks from my unit were getting together for some motorcycle riding one sunny day. I had arrived with my shiny new Softail when one of the older fellas started to show me how cool our 10th Group Coin looked when “JB Welded” over the timing cover, Trojan Horse facing out of course.

Oh and he just happens to have some JB Weld in his saddle bag and could "Hook a brother up...if I had my coin!" At which point I naively handed him my coin and a few minutes later it was permanently set in place on the side of a 600lb motorbike.

Well we ride all day long...not one snicker, not one jeer or one laugh even as we pull up to Sufferin Basterds Bar and Lounge. But, as soon as I get in the door and it closes behind me…BAM, BAM, BAM the coins come out and I knew I had been set up! Only cost me $300! There were lots SF bikers that day!

One the bright side that 10th Group Coin, Trojan Horse facing out, is still on my bike today! Ain't JB Weld some great sh!t!

So tell us about a good “I’ve been coined” story

130'

While a bar is really the only "fair" place to pull one I did get everybody one time down at the bottom of the dive line at 130".

Some learned, some didn't. The next deep dive somebody else on the team tried it. Too bad it slipped out of his fingers as he pulled it out. We all produced ours and he was a little put out over the issue.

I have heard of guys challenging in the unit showers, and producing them from wristwatches and body cavities. I have never actually seen that done.

I have been checked on jump aircraft before, but never caught.

A young Lt from up Main Post way was our new XO. He was somewhat wild but a good sport. He was coined at every turn before he went to down to SCUBA School.

Coining the new guy faded and a few months later we all went down to Key West for a Requal.

We decided it was time to hit him again and waited until he went to the shower. A quick check of his pants showed the coin safely in it's place. We went to the shower and dropped our coins inside the door. He lifted his leg and a coin dropped out. The sucker had two coins and ambushed us.

He was a great XO who went on to bigger and better things in SF.

Pete

And if we are ever at the same party with a bunch of high muckity mucks eating finger food I'll swear this event never took place.

It is not a rumor. Once it would start no body entered the shower without there coin. Just be sure to to rinse it off good when leaving the shower.
