Hamburg police battle G20 protesters

More than 100,000 protesters have traveled to the northern German city to demonstrate against the G20 summit this weekend.

One could only hope that Europe will get tired of this....but these days....I doubt it.

It's hard to imagine the power of those countries of days gone by....ruined by the latest "politics"...

After holding the G20 Summit in Toronto, I hope the damn thing never returns and wonder why anyone would want to host one. For reasons such as a waste of tax payer money (our government spent a ridiculous amount of money - $858 million), jammed city street, the violent protests and damage done to the city were all issues we got to deal with. Our police department also received a real blow to their public relations image when they were put in awful positions when dealing with the protesters.

Governments know this type of crap is going to happen, so why continue using the same format? Why not hold one on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean that is surrounded with a Naval fleet of war ships? Anyone who comes within a certain distance would be blown out of the water.

Sometimes I think the governments of the world just love the drama.

Growing number of countries, carving up or re-arranging the still available pieces of the globe between them. The real machinations take place behind the figure-head photo-ops.

Net effect of 100K protesters on their goals = 0.

Longstreet,

I've worked several of these international events, you are absolutely right.
Local governments host these things for world wide exposure, Damn the consequences.

The government then cries victim and requests federal assistance etc. Worse is when the protesters are essentially given card blanc by left leaning politicians.

Why can't this be accomplished by video teleconferencing?

DTS asks me that question every time I try to travel.

Just to quote a WSJ article 08 Jul 2017:

G-20 Riot Leaves Trail of Destruction as German Officials Scramble for Answers.

"Officials from the host government have said they needed to hold the annual summit in a metropolitan area to ensure there were enough hotel room, and that they wanted to show off one of Germany's most international cities. "

I'll attempt to be mature and not classify what kind of show.

One well placed machine gun could have ended this crap. The Germans used to know how to handle these things but when you let a former east German run your shit socialists will have a good time.

Remember last years G20 summit in Hangzhou China? No because there was no violence. (And because the USA sent a spineless idiot.)

No more G20 summits in Europe should stop all left-wing fascist violence.

Or, we hold them in Phoenix, during July...... was 117 here yesterday....... Let 100k protest in that.

Siberia in December with water canons!

They must have a few empty gulags that could be refurbished for the oligarchs.

Angela is as out of touch as ever praising the peaceful protests :

Perhaps they need some of their Northern brethren to go full Norse on the anarchists...

Am with you on the 1st thing; the 2nd is just words chosen by the Commie press. Such conduct would never get tolerated with such words if done by you or I. Some busted glass and/or night letters to traitorous officials would generate such a hue & cry about domestic terrorism it would make one's head spin

I'd prefer people stop referring to rioters as "protesters" - it is very disingenuous and only fuels the machine that seeks to justify this type of behavior.

...it is entertaining to watch, but it isn't a protest.

Do they make simunition swap out parts for the belt fed MG3?

First distribute eye protection(for safety), then disperse the crowds channeled into urban fire lanes.

Probably less likely to cause cancer than those less than lethal directional microwave thingies that cook your brain.

Simunition isn't cheap, but I'd donate the value of a belt just to watch the YouTube videos of the desired endstate.
