Colonel reflects on accomplishments of Bragg paratroopers in Iraq

http://www.fayobserver.com/military/...4560ff431.html

"Iraqi Army soldiers fighting to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq are better trained and prepared - thanks to a push from Fort Bragg paratroopers.

"I think the Iraqis can do this," said Col. Curtis A. Buzzard, commander of the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, which recently returned from its mission to train soldiers in Iraq...."

Don't hear much in the news about our 3,359 American troops in Iraq. Or our ones in Afghanistan either.

Iraq

My son and a couple other boys with SF dads are in 3rd Bde and just came back. They tell a little different story on the abilities of the Iraqis.

Lightbulb Management -vs- Leadership w/in that culture.....

Quote:
The main difference between leaders and managers is that leaders have people follow them while managers have people who work for them.

The manager's job is to plan, organize and coordinate. The leader's job is to inspire and motivate.
They don't need managers over there; they NEED LEADERS!

From those who've been there, is the issue getting them to a T on a Collective Task, or is it that their leadership are morally bankrupt and selfish and have no concept of placing organizational goals and subordinate interests over their own needs?
