A former German Army sniper was sentenced to 20 years in prison Thursday after he was caught in a sting operation that tested whether ex-soldiers would kill a federal agent.

It's interesting that his plea deal was contingent upon affirming he was using skills he learned in the military to commit the crimes.
What legal precedent are they trying to establish, and how do they intend to use it in the future?
Veterans need to take notice, and I believe there is reason for concern.

If this is indeed the motivation, I am not concerned.

From the article:
Dennis Gogel, 29, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Laura Taylor Swain in Manhattan, who said a long prison sentence was necessary to deter other soldiers from thinking they could use specialized skills they learned in the military to commit crimes once they were civilians.

You mean like many of the Latino gang members here in the USA?
This has been going on for decades and everyone thinks this German was the first to do this?
The US military is well aware of gang members, cartel members etc joining the US military to gain needed "skills". Blowjob Bill Clinton went one step further by sending Green Berets to train the Central and South American drug cartels in sniping skills. (Which they used against U.S. federal agents most ricky tic).

I don't know, but I think PedOncDoc has a valid point. Consider his point in light of the efforts for denying gun purchases and ccw permits to veterans classified with PTSD. Could very well become a new tactic towards that end and not limited to vets with PTSD.
Just because I may be paranoid doesn't mean they're not out there to get me.

Remember to use force protection measures, make yourself unpredictable because you never know if your front door is in someones cross hairs.

Military Training becomes Criminal
Each of these little nuggets appear to be chess pieces moving on a board. In addition, Uncle Sam and Socialists are manufacturing new chess pieces and changing the rules so they can add as many game pieces as they want, in an effort to ensure the individual Citizen loses.
I await the day when it becomes illegal NOT to enroll in VA health care system.
Paranoid??? Isn't that what keeps us alive?
