Ohh stooop it, you're making my sides hurt!
LOL, now the SEALS (SEAL Team SIX) are blaming Hollywood for mission failures!
This really came out of the Washington Times and not the Duffleblog.......
Stop, my sides hurt.....
U.S. Special Forces, Rowan Scarborough did you mean U.S. Special Operation Forces? I find it amusing when everyday "reporters" make that mistake but you? Seriously, quit pandering to the stupid folk and use the proper titles.
There's no such unit as U.S. Special Forces.
Hollywood endangers U.S. special forces by revealing tactics to Islamic extremists
Tweaks needed for hostage rescue, terrorist targeting missions with element of surprise lost
By Rowan Scarborough - The Washington Times - Updated: 8:57 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014
In the secretive special operations community, officials are debating whether to tweak tactics for daring and risky missions involving hostage rescue and terrorist targeting that have been compromised by years of detailed news accounts and Hollywood portrayals.
Some believe Islamic extremists have gone to school on special operations forces. The classroom is the U.S. media.

And who's the genius behind using real seals in the movie "Act of Valor?" Or did Hollywood bend the arms of those strong seals and make them do the movie?
Oh I forgot, this is the "It's someone else's fault" generation.
You know the seal movie that used real seals...... genius, pure genius.

That, and don't put anything from your playbook out in the public forum.

This is starting to lead me to not even take NSW seriously anymore ... Wasn't it them that gave the green light for Act of Valor for the sake of attracting SEAL recruits in the first place?
Movies that are tailored to teenage boys reveling TTPs and using names of actual SEALs... What could go wrong?!
Another example of SEALs not listing to that guy... You know the guy inside your head that sometimes says "We better not".
Helen Keller could have seen this one coming.
I don't mean to bash them, I'm just getting annoyed how frequent they keep popping up in the media.

Its an easy fix; stop cavorting with the media.
...maybe we could blame it on those damn video games. Maybe the bad guys have been playing Call of Duty.

Crap like this makes me cringe.
Another article stated they landed another force "5 miles" from the target to remain undetected.
But we will not discuss TTP's.... maybe the seals will be going over theirs in the near future.......
"The operation on Saturday began at about 1 a.m. The SEAL Team 6 commandos, joined by a small number of Yemeni counterterrorism troops, swept toward the village aboard V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft under cover of darkness early Saturday local time. They landed several hundred yards from the compound in an effort to remain undetected."

Oh, really.
In my experiences with them, SEALs are like any SOF unit - whose majority are capably going about "getting the job done" and who all struggle with the publicized fallout of their successes, their failures, their bottom 10-percenters, and their "good idea fairies."
MOO.

No but we are going to bash them for making a SEAL movie showing actual TTP's and then complaining that hollywood is educating the bad guys.......

I have not, I would imagine most were probably against a movie like Act of Valor though. I know not to categorize all of them either with some of the bad apples however there is a trend with some within their community appearing in the media and when they do the result is sometimes something like this. I have not noticed this trend in the media with other SOF units as much as I have them within the past few years. Again, I must emphasize though I don't mean to bash or categorize all of them, have nothing but respect for them, and know they have 1%'s like everyone else. However this case truly is laughable and does not surprise me.
I'd rather express my POV to the higher ups at the Pentagon or whoever at NSW put together and approved the movie Act of Valor.

There are very few people on this forum that warrant a "justifying" reply. All of them have QP somewhere in their title. FWIW.
