Why Do Most Jews Stay with Obama?

I know this subject was brought up in a previous thread, of which I have been unable to find .... (holding my head in shame).

This author makes a fairly convincing argument why the Jewish community here in the U.S. vote/follow liberals and their ideology.

Quote:
It was implausible to me that Barack Obama never knew Rev. Jeremiah Wright hated Jews. At best, Obama made a deal with this anti-Semitic racist, who helped Obama launch his political career.

Still, back in 2008, Jews — displaying the cognitive dissonance of a captive Democratic voter bloc — gave Obama the benefit of the doubt for the same reason most Jews continue to support him: he’s (half) black. Jews favor underdogs and victims (though really, Obama is neither).

As many Jews assimilated into America over the last century, some downplayed their Jewish identity — changing names, intermarrying and, most of all, converting… to the secular religion of liberalism. Although Jews became leaders in the civil rights movement, black anti-Semitism persists; leftist Jews don’t see to care that the Congressional Black Caucus is largely anti-Israel, as was the last Democratic National Convention.

There is a double standard. Obama’s first foreign policy act was his “apology tour” to the Arab world. Obama then favored the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and opposed its moderate successor government. Secretary of State John Kerry similarly snubbed moderate Arabs countries and bypassed the Palestinian Authority to curry favor with Hamas. Imagine if Secretary of State Jim Baker had done the same thing during George H.W. Bush’s presidency.

Following World War II, the myth had persisted among Jews that FDR was a bold leader who helped save Jews, when, in fact, he was a feckless polemicist who was indifferent to the Holocaust. Republican Sen. Robert Taft’s principled opposition to the ex post facto Nuremberg trials was misinterpreted. That same older generation of Jews also thanked Democrat Harry Truman in 1948 for recognizing Israel and faulted Republican Dwight Eisenhower for pressuring Israel during the 1956 Suez crisis.

To this day, few Jews recognize that at Israel’s greatest time of existential threat — the 1973 surprise attack known as the Yom Kippur War — Republican Richard Nixon saved Israel: his friend, Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir called in the middle of the night; Nixon unilaterally overruled the Pentagon to airlift massive military supplies to our beleaguered ally.

The redcoats/oV's have bamboozled all of their voting blocks: black, Jewish, Hispanic, and liberals.

I have always favored the underdog and oppressed. Barry was never on my radar so the spin doctors label me a racist. He was never on my radar because he is not a leader and his words never had the ring of truth to them.

Of late I've come to realize that our representatives in congress and the executive branch are like the zinc block on an outboard, they take the corrosion for the propeller. Put another way, they are low hanging fruit. Easy pickings for the pissed off hoi paloi so that the ones really pulling the strings go essentially unmolested.

one issue is that there are more jews in new York city alone than there are in the entire Country of israel. NYC is no bastion of conservatism.

I hear people throw that stat around all the time but it isn't true. There are 2.0 millions Jews in NYC and 6.1 in Israel.

In any event you'd think a group of people who have historically suffered at the hands of countries with strong authoritarian governments they'd be reluctant to cede power to a central government.

Perhaps it is a similar process to what happened in South Africa. The Jewish community owned the heights of capitalism on the one hand, but also led the Communist Party on the other. This running with both the hare and the hounds ensured that they would emerge as winners no matter who ultimately won.
Very smart and a good long-term survival strategy from the world champion survivors.

The biggest obstacle to recruiting Jews into the Republican Party is overcoming their intense fear of Christian prayer in schools.

Guy,

As a Jewish (former) South African I'll explain it like this:

Don't be under the illusion that the "Jewish Community" is a cohesive, monolithic, same-thinking, same-acting entity. Far from it. It's a diverse community with divergent points of view.

You'd find that those who were at the top of the business tree were not the same people at the top of the SACP . Joe Slovo and co. whilst born Jewish were aetheists / communists. There were also committed Jews who served in the Recces, SWASPES, Parabats and various areas of the SAP. I'm not making a judgement about any of them - just making the point about diversity.

Take Care...

I know that G. My late dearly beloved stepmother was Jewish, with close family on both sides of the divide. She would never hear a bad word about the Communist side, to my amazement. Since majority rule, the Communist has made billions of rand for himself by managing union money. Today, he doesn't make any political noises at all and lives a very comfortable life.
