I'm confused
Since when is causing a traffic jam such a big deal? Or is it using power for political payback that is the crime?
If so, what about the IRS scandal, the NSA spying on Americans, Benghazi, etc.....
Or is it only illegal when a Republican does it........

Attempting to "punish" a political opponent for not supporting you in such a way (indirectly taking it out on their constituents) makes Christie appear to be little but another vain, petulant, small-minded, political hack to many people and vulnerable to attack by anyone now opposing him or his professed political party.

You are not confused but until you are the POTUS you cannot make the argument that you did not know these things were going on. Ignorance can be bliss but only if you are the anointed one.

I'm an NJ resident, and I found Christie vastly less objectionable than any of the previous governors of the state in recent memory. But to impede the use of a public utility for the purpose of exacting revenge against a political opponent and, as a result, punishing the residents of the area and motorists who use the GWB is a completely despicable act. Furthermore, if there is no criminal statute under which those involved can be punished, there certainly ought to be one. My personal opinion is that if he was in on it, he committed a criminal act and should be impeached. If he was not in on it, then he is managing his staff so incompetently that he cannot be entrusted with public office ever again.
The scandals you mentioned are also detestable, and I agree that they have not received the attention they deserve (and that it is likely due to the radical leftism of many media outlets). But that is not relevant to a discussion about the (absolute, not relative) moral/legal legitimacy of closing portions of a major highway for completely frivolous reasons.
Also, for those unfamiliar with the traffic in the area, the GWB is not just another highway bridge. It is the single most trafficked road bridge in the world, being crossed by over 276,000 vehicles per day on average. And, as one might expect, lane closures in the vicinity of this bridge can have dire consequences.

I think that it is relevant, if indeed he is guilty of any wrong doing in this matter his feet will be held to the fire by not just the dems but his own party. For the most part republicans and conservatives do a pretty good job of throwing our miscreants under the bus where they belong. But really why should we get our panties in a wad over this frivolous matter when the other side continues to give the POTUS a walk regarding all his frivolous matters?

The number of people identifying as republicans is at an all time record low. Independent has grown the most with 47%. Ill search for the link.

More people say they are independents than ever before! So?

Being an independent is all the rage right now. But it doesn't mean the two major parties are in trouble. Not by a long shot.
New data from Gallup released Wednesday show that 42 percent of Americans, on average, identified as political independents in 2013. It's the highest percentage Gallup has recorded since it started calling the public to gauge their opinions.
As the following chart shows, as independents gained steam during the last year, the percentage of the public identifying as Republicans declined to its lowest point in 25 years.

People identifying as Independents is not because they are no longer Progressive or Conservative, but because they are disgusted with the political parties conduct at the Federal level.

All I hope for is that those "independents" are actually conservatives running from the RINO's. They certainly have contempt for conservatives, constitutionalists, and libertarians.
Listening to talk radio hosts; it would all but take a word from about 5 of them and there would be a new party.

Any politician that abuses his or her power should be prosecuted but that is not the reality in this country. If you are of the right persuasion or a member of a certain party you get a pass. You can get re-elected even if you molest an intern, smoke crack in front of the FBI or issue Executive Orders that violate the Constitution. Until the playing field is leveled I couldn't care less that a couple of lanes into a communist city got shut down. If I was the Jersey Governor I'd blow the bridge and cut ties to that infected place and everything north of there.
JMHO.

You can label yourself however you want but when you enter that booth there is not going to be a lot of boxes for Independent which means more than likely you will be voting primarily republican or democrat. I just wish that the powers to be within the republican party would grow a pair and lead.
