Ahhhhhh ..... the 40 mm flare pistol. Loved it at Ft. Irwin. I was a Green Team platoon-level Observer-Controller and would use the pistol when OPFOR calls-for-fire were accurate (most of the time). I have placed air bursts above (and ...under
) tanks using this pistol; and -- as I recall, it also handled smoke and CS ... but I won't swear to the CS. We were told it would handle the M-203 (M-79) 40mm rounds, but we never got the opportunity to try.
I saw Maj. "What's That Got To Do With Killing Communists" Dickinson kill a jack rabbit with one round using the flare pistol -- he actually hit the rabbit with the projectile; it was not the burst that killed the rabbit (he'd feed them to his pythons, which he kept in his bathtub during feeding time).

The site of someone doing burpees and kipping pullups = SEAL? I can do both of those just fine and am far from any SEAL. Is there no one in the regular Navy that does those?
