Go Cardinals!
As many know I'm a Cubs fan, but it's a "midwest love of the game thing." If it can't be the Cubs - and that don't look likely for some time - then it should be the Cards. Nice spanking of the Dodgers.
afchic and others from that area, good luck to your team! I'll be watching 'cause I can NEVER root for that league that plays some other game with 10 guys & a whimpy pitcher. This is supposed to be BASEBALL.

Well here's hoping that today's ALCS game settles the dance card. Growing up in NE, I still have Red Sox in my blood, so I'm in the American League camp. I suppose it makes me less of a purist. There is something special about watching those DH's come up to the plate. It is that sense that something big could get started, or that your pitcher has a chance to defeat their champion.
Let's Go Sox!

I guess I'm a NL/AL schizophrenic. If the Phillies aren't in it, then it's the Red Sox all the way for me. Go Big Poppi, you da' man!

Grew up listening to Cardinal baseball on KMOX out of St. Louis. This was when Harry Cary and occasionally Dizzy Dean would call the games. The Cards were sponsored by Falstaff Beer and it seemed that Harry and Dizzy would be about three sheets into the wind by the second inning. Have a lot of love for the Cardinals.

Fantastic game last night. The first couple of innings I thought it might be a battle of the pitchers.
I was talking to my best friend last night, and she said you wouldn't believe the hate the Red Birds are getting around the country. For the life of me I can't see why, other than envy. The Cards are a class act, as well as the STL fans. I guess haters got to hate.

The cards are a class act. Good pitching, good hitting, and they are used to being in big games. They are going to be a handful.

And how 'bout the Flyin' Hawaiian's grand slam over the Green Monster!
I just love that guy- his enthusiasm for the game is like a kid in a little league uniform. I can still see that joy in his face as if he were 10 years old again.

Also a Cards fan..
Grew up in St. Louis and went to games from the time I can remember. One moment of my childhood I will never forget was getting to meet most of the players on the 1982 team before they took off for the World Series.
I still have the signed ball with all names but one (George Hendrick, he refused to sign). All the guys signed my cards and I realized later many signed much more than their name. Darrell Porter put a bible verse on his. Tommy Herr signed his name and then had Keith Hernandez sign the other side..........Tommy then asked for the ball back and drew a line between the two names. That ball got passed around to the team and each player put initials on the line indicating who they would rather play with (Found this out many years later).
In the end, they won!
After that, many of the key players (Ozzie exempt of course) got busted for coke and other narcotics. Many of the other players fell off as a result and the team didn't recover until 1985.
Just some rambling from a true Cardinal fan, and glad to see them back on top the last few years...........only getting stronger.
Mike
