Army colonel in Vicenza, Italy, relieved of command

This is the 2nd O-6 I knew at Vicenza that has been relieved of command.

I got the back story on this and while the article doesn't give details he was drunker than cooter-brown at the Official Post 4th of July celebration and then, against all conventional wisdom and DIRECT conversations, decided to drive home, blowing past the gate on his way out! The MPs and Carbonari, visibly pissed that he didn’t stop at the gate, went to his house and showed him that the MP Shoulder Brassard is just one more rank than yours!

".....will not face criminal charges, said Col. Rumi Nielson-Green, chief of public affairs for USAREUR. ...."

Must be nice being an "O". Wonder how many "E"s he'd slammed for doing similar activities?

And what's up with this?

"....Campbell has already requested a replacement for Buckingham. The garrison’s civilian deputy, James Walls, will continue to serve as acting commander until the replacement arrives..."

Run out of LTC's?

It's a new morale building initiative where leaders are held to a lower standard than their subordinates--ingenious!

S&S says he got the boot because he dropped one to many F-Bombs!!!

http://www.stripes.com/news/unprofes...issal-1.241992

To all AD-folks, I guess you had better be nice to people and not drop any F bombs or your career could be cut short.

I don't think we are getting the whole story, I can't see a Garrison Commander being booted due to verbally dressing down a subordinate. Heck if
that is the criteria I don't think I would have ever had a chain of command
when I was a private! i.e. I was always getting yelled at!

But in this Army now a days...who knows?
