(MPD Chief) Flynn said he is confident the department will send six-month numbers to OJA next month.

"It's only so they can compare us to other big cities; it's not what we use to understand the dimensions of crime. It's simply to produce a national report," Flynn said.

The mayor (Tom Barrett) said the FBI numbers are useful for the sake of comparison.

"I think it is important to compare apples to apples, and I'm confident that we'll be in a place where we will be able to do so. We're putting money into the system right now," Barrett said.

Yeah, you've just got Chicago envy.

To their credit, the Milwaukee paper has been on this since they broke the original "number fudging" story. Another failed regime, entrenched like ticks.
