7 Dead, 30 Wounded in Weekend Violence

Seven people were killed and at least 30 others were shot in violence that plagued Chicago over Father's Day weekend.
Six of the fatalities and 11 other shootings occurred overnight Saturday leading into Father's Day, including the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy.
On the Southwest Side, five people were shot, one fatally, in two shootings in the Little Village neighborhood.
At 10:50 p.m. Saturday 21-year-old Ricardo Herrera was killed and two others were shot in the 2500 block of South Ridgeway Avenue, police said.

I've lived in the "City" for two years now. Generally in good areas, but that has not stopped the trouble from finding me. SA has kept me out of most of it. It was maybe 6 months after returning from A-Stan, sitting at a red light (early afternoon) in a bad neighborhood when I see two gentleman approaching my vehicle from behind on the right and left. Car jacking pops in my head, I start checking for cross traffic. Once they were within a few feet of my car, I took off and blew the light. Ended up getting pulled over for it, explained the situation and my background and the cops did not write me up.
But in my opinion, SA will never be enough while I am unarmed. Thank god the state finally passed some CCW legislation. Just waiting on the Governor to sign it. The criminals have the guns and the law abiding citizens do not. Even worse is the anti-gun culture that has developed in the city due to the manipulation of news outlets. There was a Chicago Tribune or Sun Time editorial about why we needed CCW permits in the city, he was unceremoniously let go shortly there after.
Right now I rely on my shepard pitbull to deter most nefarious human beings, despite him being a total baby he does look fairly menacing with his training collar on. Soon enough I will be able to carry my S&W M&P compact... I am counting the days.

I wouldn't count to heavily on that.
IIRC, the legislation is a "may issue", wherein the Sheriff decides if you need a gun, not a "shall issue".
Normal citizens are not to be trusted with arms by the elite.

Vice did a segment on Chicago, I guess the gang bangers are calling the city "Chiraq" now... There were so many uninsured on the soutside getting shot that all of the hospitals on that side of town have closed their trauma centers because they could no longer afford to run them.
Definitely eating into his voter base.
