National Guard (AGR) to be furloughed

Quote:
More than 1,100 National Guard soldiers and airmen in Hawaii -- and thousands in other states -- will be living with 20 percent less pay over the next three months as the Defense Department carries out automatic federal budget cuts.

Disgraceful! Surely there is something else they can find to cut other than the people who are responsible for the operations of the states' militias. I can tell you that our AGR guys were incredibly overworked and understaffed for the tasks they were assigned.

Come on in, the waters fine!

We don't really have anything to eat and we had to cut off the lights but everything is fine!

Elections have consequences! And I can only wonder if Webster plans to change the definition of Leadership....cause that shit we have in DC now couldn't lead an anchor to the bottom of the sea!

Remember, our elected officials (led by the CinC) came up with this idea, passed it, and then told us no one would actually be hurt by it, as it would never take effect.

Welcome to the 20% pay cut line, with almost all of the government's civilians.

Would you like some soup?

On the upside, this furlough will not hurt the democrats voting base as only 14% of the military says they're democrats.

It isn't AGRs getting furloughed. It is the technicians. The article specifically states that

Quote:
The National Guard added military technicians to the furlough list in May, after Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel gave official notice to begin furloughs
The problem with this is that almost all of the individuals that perform maintenance and fly the airframes assigned to the State Aviation Offices of each state are Techs. So what happens when the state catches fire on a furlough day and the Governor's office is calling?

Yeah, but most of the military is not getting furloughed, and a much larger portion of the Federal civilian workforce is minority.

OK, mea culpa. As an M-Day soldier I never knew there was a difference. We just called everyone that worked all week in uniform "full-timers" and the only official terms I ever heard used for them were AGR or ADSW.

Can I please get an admin edit on the title to make it say (Techs) for accuracy's sake? (I tried to do it myself, but didn't see a way)

I can't wait to see how much time we spend documenting what we are not doing...
On the bright side, my well timed vacation will save two days of leave.

Right before I recently hung up my spurs several commands already had an OPORD out for the data collection on "impacts". The self-licking ice-cream cone goes rolling along.
