Not all is lost on the young

We get more than our share of stories about the entitlement crowd and about
how spoiled today's kids are so I thought I would share this story about a kid who wants to work and wants to contribute. We need some good news for a change!

Teenager spotted walking 10 MILES in the snow to interview for $7-an-hour job is given work on the spot by restaurant owner - who doubled his pay

Just feel the need to point out the story had to be picked up by a U.K. outfit!

I'm here in Indianapolis and the story has been playing out for several days ...the young man is continuing to receive assistance ... e.g. bus passes to facilitate his travel to and from work, and an apartment. I supervised a gang unit that dealt with a lot of activity where he lives, so he has an even harder "road" to travel than what appears on TV.

I think what it signifies more than anything else, even to a jaded, retired cop like myself, is that there is indeed such a thing as Hoosier Hospitality ... Hoosiers helping Hoosiers.

Agreed.

cbtengr thank you for posting the story.

I thought Art Bouvier, of Papa Roux, was a displaced Cajun.

This young mans' success will be a result of whether he rejects the soft ride social media is providing and chooses the harder road.

Good for you young man.

THIS is what America was built upon ... hard work and determination .... Something that the Barry W.H. doesn't want to happen anymore.

good heavens! What a heartwarming story. With all the sequestration and furlough and the looming gloom and doom, it's an oasis in the dessert. 'Tis a blessing to be a blessing. An indomitable spirit rewarded by an act of grace. Thanks for the post cbtengr!

Young lad put my 6 miles ruck in the rain to the abc store to shame...
