On The Discovery Channel last night, they showed a new one hour documentary on RASP. I thought it was pretty interesting since even though I am an 18x-ray candidate, I still have thoughts about going through Ranger school somewhere down the line.
The class they followed in the documentary had a very high success rate (I believe they said out of the 114 original candidates, 29 were not selected.) I had always heard that candidates in RASP usually have a success rate of around 30-40%
Another interesting piece was on the team events they do, which seem very similar to the events in SFAS. After their 8 weeks in hell they received their Tan Berets. I found the whole episode very inspirational, making me even more motivated to work beyond my limits to graduate SFAS and the Q course when it comes time.
Only thing I didn't really like about the episode was the fact they only focused on 2 or 3 of the soldiers going through the training. I would have liked to see more responses from other soldiers to see more of a variety of emotions about the course.
Did anyone else watch this documentary? What are some of your opinions on it?
