Marine sees son walk for first time!

I enjoy good news and this story is definitely some good news! Be sure to check out the video

“When my husband left on his deployment, our 6-year-old son could not walk on his own. He has cerebral palsy. Doctors originally said that he would never walk or do much of anything. While daddy was away, he learned to walk. For his homecoming, we set it up for Michael to walk to his daddy for the first time ever! We kept the fact that he could walk a secret the whole time his dad was gone!”

Touching story, but if he didn't know his son could walk then why did he stop and encourage his son to come to him??

My guess would be that you don't see what is happening off camera to the left as the boy begins haltingly walking toward the father and he realizes what is happening and bends down to encourage him...or you can take the cynical view...YMMV

I watched the tape again, and believe you are right...too bad they didn't have a wide angle shot....but then it's not the video that's important. The little boy is a trooper.
