Tattoos and the POTUS

If this is an ill-placed post please remove but I wanted to see the general opinion on the matter.

A friend of mine who is stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA was pulled out of formation today and informed by his CO and 1SG that he could not go hear the POTUS speak due to his tattoos. None of which are out of regulations yet. (He has sleeves that are covered when in ACUS) IMHO both the CO and 1SG are wrong. He can go see the POTUS speak at any public forum and not be denied access due to fully exposed tattoos, but he was denied when they are all covered. Mind you, this is a 3x Purple Heart recipient as well as a Bronze Star after 4 deployments to both theatres.

Am I the only one who finds this horribly wrong?

I'd consider it an honor.

I was not aware it was a right to see the president. Do you have any examples of case law that supports this 'right'?

I was not aware you had to request permission to a public event that the majority of the Division (minus those excused for whatever reason) was attending. Why should he be denied attendance for something that does not break any regulation?

Answer this, first; why does he have such a hard-on to see the guy, anyway?

I wouldn't say he has a hard on to see him. He just thought it was BS that he was told he couldnt go because of tattoos that arent visible.

Here I thought that it would be many of his companions thinking it was BS that they had to go and he got out of it.

The way you write it, he's being denied some basic right.

I mean, it ain't like it was President Bush.

Well played. Same to you Dusty. He's just pissed that they told him it was because of his tattoos.

One of the low-points of my career was being bussed to a German plaza location to be part of "the crowd" hearing Carter speak. Gott sei dank, the PA system was in the toilet and I spent the time
a) looking at the girls and,
b) counting the draft-dodging Frei University students und,
c) marking the counter-sniper positions

Still, that was one long-winded worthless piece of peanut shell.

Your friend should count himself lucky.

I woulld have feigned disappointment. While in Bosnia, we were all asked if we wanted to go hear Clinton when he came to Tusla. I don't remember anyone raising their hands.
