SEAL Accidentally Shoots Self In Head

Darwinian.

Richard

A 22-year-old Navy SEAL was gravely wounded early Thursday when he shot himself in the head at his Pacific Beach home while trying to convince a companion that the pistol he was showing off was safe to handle, authorities said.

The shooting in the 1800 block of Grand Avenue left the sailor on life support at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, according to San Diego police. Authorities initially reported that the man had died but later said he remained alive at a hospital on life support equipment.

The serviceman, who had been drinking with a woman at a bar before they returned to his residence, was showing her his 9 mm handgun when the accident occurred, SDPD Officer Frank Cali said.

The man offered to let his friend hold the weapon, which he mistakenly believed was unloaded, according to Cali. When she declined, he tried to demonstrate how safe it was by putting it to his head and pulling the trigger.

The sailor, whose name was not released, graduated recently from the Navy's Sea, Air and Land Teams program, which trains elite special-operations tactical units.

Once the first drinks are served. All Guns are locked up for the night in my house. I believe our community had a very similar incident years ago.

Yup. Booze or Bullets. Never together.

This just goes to show that no matter who your are and how much training you have had the gun is not impressed. Forget one safety and you or some innocent bystander could be gone.

If you point it at your head and pull the trigger intentionally, is it an accident?

I guess SEALs are human after all.

Prayers to the Family and Young Lady.

Interesting that the 9mm did not kill him. I wonder if the skull of a Seal is thicker than a bear's. Maybe I should trade my 9mm in and get a 40.

I guess this guy was from up here in my neck of the woods, I believe they were saying Meadville, PA on the news this morning and they are reporting here that he just graduated from SEAL training and was out celebrating. Sad Story...

I guess he must've missed his Friday afternoon safety briefing.

This wasn't accidental, it was negligent. Huge difference.

It's hard for me to feel sorry for someone who's that stupid.
