Oregon Spring Game Dedicated to Troops

Tomorrows Oregons spring football game will be carried live on ESPN2 and Coach Chip Kelly has dedicated it to our military, both those that serve and the familys that stay behind.

There will be about 100 active duty military members who are getting ready to deploy that will be present and treated as honored guests. There will be many more veterans and families in attendance.

This is honest and sincere effort to both honor and draw attention to those who serve this nation and give us the freedoms many take for granted.

What prompted Coach Kelly to do this was his attending a funeral last winter for a 21 year Oregon athlete who gave his life in military service to this nation.
On the trip home Coach Kelly wanted to do something more and here we are.

Coach Kelly's intentions are sincere and I will go to the mat for him on this issue.

Right after the Oregon Spring football game Coach kelly is leaving for both Iraq and Afghanistan to visit more troops.

So Bill, what do you think of TJ Ward? He just got drafted by the Browns.
TJ is a very good hunter and should be one to watch with the Browns.

At the end of the Oregon Spring Game the players walked across the field to meet a like number of active duty military members and each player took the jersey off their back to exchange with a military member and in return recieved a coin from that particular military group.

The back of each game jersey read "Support Our Troops".

The players then accompanied the members of the military off the field and exchanged email information with the person that recieved the jersey.
The coach wants his players to begin to understand what the military does and the sacrifices made while in service to the United States and all of us.

Hollis, sorry.

A bunch of us that just got back managed to make it to the game and watch our rear detachment get their jerseys. (Somehow the rear detachment managed to get the majority of the slots to go onto the field)

Looks like the Ducks may be competing for the Pac-10 title with either Costa or Thomas at QB. The secondary looks like they may be even faster than last year.

All around, a beautiful day at Autzen.

Sandman02,
Great you made it to the game!
The secondary now has warp drive.

Anyone know where we can get a military parachute team to deliver the game ball next year?
