Nordic combined power! U.S. takes gold, silver

"....................They didn’t have to worry about some of the best World Cup athletes catching them after worsening weather hampered the top jumpers on the large hill, relegating them too far back in the field to be a factor.

The cross-country race was run in much better weather, but the soft, sometimes choppy snow put a premium on the proper wax and ski setup. Unlike the team relay when Demong was done in by bad skis, he had the perfect combination to put the Americans atop the podium............"

A win in the Nordic events is an amazing accomplishment. Congratulations to the team for their efforts.....and they owe a few cases of beer to the guy who chose the wax combination for the day.

Congrats to the team!

I watched the cross-country portion last night. Pretty thrilling stuff, with all the maneuvering and race tactics. As a guy who has to side-step on his skis to move up even the gentlest of inclines, it's amazing to watch these athletes power up the slopes as they make their way around the course.
