Looks like Mother Earth is rockin' and rollin' today. There was a 2.5 quake in western Puerto Rico a few days back. For a month before the Haiti Quake there were a lot of small quakes in the Puerto Rico Trench.

Geophysicists have been watching The Yellowstone for sometime and speculating something big is working towards happening.

It's amazing how many earthquakes there are. I've been going through that site today. There are so many variables with these things.

They had a 4.1 Northeast of Albuquerque last night.
The earth seems restless.

The scales we are familiar with. e.g. the Richter scale or the newer Moment Magnitude scale, are related to the amount of energy released. The damage is dependent on how that energy is delivered to a population area with its people and infrastructure. How the energy is delivered is related to the geology of the area. Mexico city is atop an area that "rings" when energized by an earthquake. Not a good thing. The damage is strongly related to the construction of the infrastructure and how this construction is "tuned" to how the earth will react based on the local geology.

Aren't you glad you asked?
