This morning's episode, "Treasure Hunt" (season 2, episode 25, original air date, 21 June 1959) saw Mike Nelson extracting a confession from a suspected murderer by holding his head under water. The narrative voice over said, "Kids, don't try this at home."

Not only did the episode make it past the censors in 1959, it got past those who give today's parental control ratings as it was TV-G.

TV-G (General Audience -- Most parents would find this program suitable for all ages.) Although this rating does not signify a program designed specifically for children, most parents may let younger children watch this program unattended. It contains little or no violence, no strong language and little or no sexual dialogue or situations.

I sure as heck could have used such a favorable rating when my old man caught me buying my first (and last) issue of Heavy Metal.
