Unintended Consequences?

When a "too good to be true" bill is pushed through because it will "help the people" did the congress critters put enough thought into it.

"Mom and Pop used-car dealers left without clunkers"

".......“What about all these people who need the $3,500 cars? Are they going to ride the bus for the rest of their life?” said Mike Salarze, manager of Majestic Motors in Baltimore..........."

Or does this mean another government bailout that will fix a problem caused by a bailout that was caused by a...........

Well I think we mentioned somewhere else that the "Un-Clunker Bailout Package" should be hitting the Hill soon for all those that just assumed car payments that they can't make.

The local paper had an article on how certain Cadillac SUVs and Hummer H3s qualify for the clunker deal. One particular dealership had sold 35 SUVs using the coupons since the bogus-bailout started. (Good work up there in Congress....)

If the used car dealers hang on...in about 10 years the market will be flooded with "available" $3500 cars.

Yes. Move into the city and ride public transport. Because your government tells you it's good for you. You don't want to be one of those bitter rural people, do you? Especially when Phase 2 begins.

NY dealers pull out of clunkers program

NY dealers pull out of clunkers program

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php...show_article=1

"......"(The government) needs to move the system forward and they need to start paying these dealers," said Mark Schienberg, the group's president. "This is a cash-dependent business."

The program offers up to $4,500 to shoppers who trade in vehicles getting 18 mpg or less for a more fuel-efficient car or truck. Dealers pay the rebates out of pocket, then must wait to be reimbursed by the government. But administrative snags and heavy paperwork have created a backlog of unpaid claims. ......"

The dealers have to pay out of pocket and then wait for the government to pay them? They are running out of cash.

And some want the government to run health care.

LaHood says they are gonna get their money! I am suspecting when hell freezes over and I aint talkin' Hell, MI!

Fox was talking about for the last few days... (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009...8:b27240400:z0).... and from what I understand, about 2% is being paid back, if that. Of course, I cannot see how this program helps the dealerships if they are offering DOUBLE for clunkers (Saw that in MS and CO). Bailouts, healthcare, clunkers, carbon footprints, domestic "terrorists"...the poor poor Big O! If you aren't for him, you are against him! <sigh>
