North Korea Threatens War if 'Satellite' Is Shot Down

And the testing of the new administration continues...

North Korea Threatens War if 'Satellite' Is Shot Down
AP, 8 Mar 2009

North Korea ordered its armed forces on standby and warned Monday it will retaliate against anyone seeking to block its planned satellite launch, which many fear will disguise a missile test.

The threat was the North's latest attempt to escalate tensions on the divided peninsula and a strong sign that the communist nation intends to push ahead with the launch despite mounting international pressure to drop the plan. Analysts say Pyongyang is trying to grab President Barack Obama's attention as his administration formulates its North Korea policy.

And Joe Biden just keeps smiling to himself about being correct. "See, I knew we were going to be tested in the first few months..... Told you so!"

N korea

Interesting interview I heard on the radio the other day. Seems North Korea has always had trouble feeding its' people but the situation is more dire now in that even the military is going hungry. If the little RB can't feed his military, what are the potentials?

Interesting you brought this up. PDRNK* has always had trouble feeding its people and--whenever the situation is dire enough to threaten those in power as it appears to be about now--they have a tendency to 'threaten' the West...which then results in their publicly making some form of minor political concession (which they needed to make anyway) so we'll send them food to keep the army fed and the people satisfied enough to not revolt. Just another crappy day in Cesspoolville for that part of the globe.

And so it goes...

* FWIW - I avoid travel to any country which begins with Peoples Democratic Republic...their one-half star hotels don't appeal to my wife.

My un-educated guess is that they have enough chemicals and delivery systems to ruin part of South Korea.

It's actually boring anymore. It's like a four year old who threatens to hold her breath until she gets her way. So you smile at her and wait until a) she can't hold her breath anymore and starts breathing again or b) worst case she passes out, starts breathing again and wakes up a moment later and you go back to telling her no and getting on with your day. Bad things will happen to NK if they come south, and they know that. If they can't afford food, how well trained, equipped and motivated are they likely to be? Besides which, I very much doubt China is going to put up with NK starting any drama next door. They are busy buying up all the paper we can sell them. Drama would be a distraction.
