Another couple good books

I read these over 10 years ago, maybe more. They aren't SF oriented but informing anyway. Especially for those that have come along after VN. I did a search and didn't see them mentioned on this site. Could have missed something, my PC search skills aren't all that great. Anyway:
1) The tunnels of Cu Chi.... by T Mangold

2) ACK...... need help here on this. Any guys out here from the Air Force Academy?
There is a Hall there named after this man. Sinjan Hall, I think I spelled that right. I can't remember the name of the book. Tried different things on Amazon, checked the library here where I first found it 10, 15 years ago, nada. Great story. I'll keep digging back in my mind and googlin.

I was back then... but not tunnel rat material.... too tall lol... thank God!

Just spent the last hour or so searching for that Air Force pilot out of the Academy that was shot down..... no luck, even in thier own website and library. Did find an email and asked..... we'll see what happens.

I'm not AF, but are you thinking about Capt. Lance Sijin, MOH. Is the book, Into the Mouth of the Cat by Malcolm McConnell?

IIRC, the tunnels of Cu Chi book was based on extensive research, including interviews of many, many participants on both sides of the conflict. It is fascinating to hear the story from both sides. The book not only addresses this particular tunnel network, but broader issues in the war as a whole. Like that we would have won if we hadn't given up.

That's it vsvo and he was a hell of a man. Last night I had to finally email some sort of director at the McDermott Library at the Air Force Academy. Just got his reply back. A great read. I need to re-read both of them, it's been over 10 years.

NP, vsvo. Just drove me nuts that I couldn't remember the title and googling with that extra "n" in his name of course was no help. By the way, it's great you knew about the book and man I was trying to get at. Thanks for your help.

Also, RL's previous concise review of the other book... The Tunnels of Cu Chi. is dead on.

Ut Oh... just went into Amazon to order.. "Into the Mouth of the Cat". The book sitting under it looks like it needs ordering as well, "Cheating Death: Combat Air Rescues in Vietnam and Laos-- by George J Marrett. Hate when this happens, gets expensive.
