Wolves attack 3 women in Alaska

WTF is "rainbowing" her pepper spray? She didn't want to hurt the Wolves that were trying to EAT her?

I enjoyed the crying.....

Stupid pampered sheep in wolf country.

The next cnn video will be three stupid women eaten by wolves after leaving their "friends" (dogs) at home.

I was watching the face of the forest ranger, looked like he was on the verge of laughing at them.......

Stupid is as stupid does. Zero sympathy.

They looked genuinely shocked to find that wild animals do not behave as they do in the Disney movies, and predators like prey. I am surprised that they even had the pepper spray.

Stunning! Wait till they meet Mama Bear.

The only way.....

Yeah for Buddy. He took a bite for the team. I bet he was ready to deal with them if only dumb master didn't drag him back. That's his story anyway.

But the only way to stop them is to stay away?

I'd say a couple of Rangers with dogs on leashes walk down the road. Have a shotgun with the beanbag rounds. The critters are not that stupid. A couple of hits and the wolves will learn - stay away from dogs with humans.

Or everybody walk the road armed. A couple of dead wolves per incounter and the problem will go way.

Or live trap them - hard to do I would think for wolves and that many.

But the only way is to stay away - Lib talkin' there.

That damn woman was about to give her dog to the wolves.

I watched the news and laughed when I saw this the other night. The Alaska wild life officer seen on the video is well known and liked here and is the "hit man" that usually has to enforce the final answer with problem animals (great guy and hated by PETA). I thought he was reserved in his comments on tape, but I can imagine what he may have said off tape. We've had a big increase in wolves eating dogs in towns in South Central Alaska lately and his point that they may have found dogs to be an easy meal is no surprise. Not the first time it's happened either, just that they are getting really aggressive this winter.

My other half understood when I commented that it was a missed opportunity to collect a nice wolf hide. I keep an eye out for just such opportunities when I hike in the woods around my home. Lots of predators here, including wolves, linx, coyotes, wolverines and the ocassional bear that wakes up for a walk about. And no, I don't own or believe in pepper spray.

Part of my hiking/fishing/cross country ski kit during my three+ years in Alaska was a Ruger Redhawk chambered in .44 Magnum...I saw wolves, black bears and a couple of griz while ambling about...they never approached me, but I did remove the gun from the holster every time...

Artillery Road, IIRC, was near family housing at Elmendorf AFB...wonder if these space cadets are dependents...?

They would have been better off; cruising thru downtown Oakland, CA.

Oh wait! There's no predators in California; that's why we have these strict gun laws....

Stay safe.

It's an abandoned entry way into Ft. Richardson from Eagle River (where I live) through a mostly remote area, and it passes next to the DZ and other ranges on Ft. Rich.

Usually the wolves prey upon the local moose, but the moose are getting smart and sticking to the shallow snow areas where the wolves can't herd them into the deep snow and trap them. There isn't much snow yet, so my guess is that the wolves have migrated along Arty Rd to find the nice plump humans and their dogs on the road just outside of the nearby development.

LOL!

The wolves were just waiting for the salt, and maybe some oregano.

yum yum yum
