The dog did sort of screw-up though!

I thought the "Pit Bull" breed was the American Staffordshire Terrier?

Pitbulls are a seperate breed from Am. Staffs. but a lot of Pitbull owners used to register their pits as Am. Staffs. with the AKC since they did not reconised the APBT. "Pitbull" is also a generic term, like calling a Dodge Ram, a pickup.

From the AKC page above:

"As the breed moved to America the names Pitdog and Pitbull Terrier stuck. However, American breeders wanted an animal heavier than the British breed, hence the name American Staffordshire Terrier. This is the breed commonly referred to a Pit Bull."

As to the question at hand - What was this dog thinking? He wasn't!
