The distinguished "Statesman" we've lost out on!

John Kerry Slams His Own Country At Davos
Jan 27 2007 7:52PM

Here’s John Kerry speaking while sitting just a few feet away from Mohammad Khatami, the former President of the Iranian terror state.

Kerry was asked about whether the U.S. government had failed to adequately engage Iran’s government before the election of hard-liner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2005.

Kerry said the Bush administration has failed in addressing a number of foreign policy issues.

“When we walk away from global warming, Kyoto, when we are irresponsibly slow in moving toward AIDS in Africa, when we don’t advance and live up to our own rhetoric and standards, we set a terrible message of duplicity and hypocrisy,” Kerry said.

“So we have a crisis of confidence in the Middle East — in the world, really. I’ve never seen our country as isolated, as much as a sort of international pariah for a number of reasons as it is today.”…

Kerry criticized what he called the “unfortunate habit” of Americans to see the world “exclusively through an American lens.”

This SOB keeps breathing my air.

Having spent most of my life overseas and a whole lot of time with people of many different nationalities, it seems to me, from my little slice of the world that a lot of 'non-Americans' do think that American political policy is generally very 'egocentric'.

Now...being an American myself, I know dam well that America and Americans work their butts off making a difference in almost every nook and cranny in the world; weather private sector, public sector or NFP, we just don't go around telling everyone about it.

Instead of an 'egocentric' issue like Kerry is bleeding on about; perhaps we more have a publicity issue, or to put it accurately, a publicity issue with the foreign press and therefore with foreign-ers?

Weather we have an isolationist / colonization-al mentality as a nation or not, is beside the point, (I don’t think we do), but people think we do and therefore that as good as reality.

Thoughts?

Perhaps someone should remind the Senator of Stephen Decatur's toast at Norfolk.

I have really begun to believe that there are those out there in public life that really do hate this country. I guess for Kerry being a traitor and a fraud in his youth wasn't enough for him, now he has to try and trash our image because he is a bitter failure who couldn't unseat an unpopular President.

BTW I read yesterday that the US Senate voted 95-0 on a resolution that said that it was the US Senate's opinion that the Kyoto treaty was not in the US best interests to sign. Guess who was one of the 95 yea votes? Yet some how according to Kerry's screed in Davos it is all the Presidents fault that the treaty died. Who cares if the President at the time never even bothered to submit it to the Senate for ratification. These people are really around the bend.

It would be nice if kerry happened to walk in front of a speeding bus. <splat>
He has mastered "Double Speak", Orwell would be very proud of him.

You know, it's almost worth my stripes and pension to give this loser a punch in the jaw. Sometimes, you just have to take the assault charge.

You know the reason Jesus was not born in DC?

They could not find three wise men or a Virgin.
