New LRPs?

I understand that there is a new LRP ration available but I'm not sure where it's being issued. Anyone know if it's being issued in A-stan or Iraq? CONUS?

Has anyone tried them? Comments? How do they compare to MREs?

Thanks!

They are OK

I have been in a LRS unit in Germany for the last 3 years and we tested some of the new LRP rations. They tasted good but you had to use WAY TOO MUCH water with them. You also had to boil the water or at least get it hot enough to "soak" the rations main meal. I only had 3 of them and opted for the MRE since there was no way I could hump enough water to prepare the rations properly. The Breakfast one was the best one I had. I can't remember the other ones I tried. Overall, they would be good if you had lots and lots of water at your disposal and some way to heat the water.

Subfighter-
Oh, young pup! LRRPs can be heated using body temperature, soak the damn things, reseal them and put them inside your Uniform jacket so that your LBE holds them in - give em an hour or two in the jacket while humping away and they may not be hot, but they'll be edible. Don't expect hots in the bush, try eating cold (like frozen) C's, or the old style LRRPs while doing Winter Ops. there used to be no such animal as a heating sleeve for field rats, soft ass young puke - breakfast is wahtever you pull out for your first meal of the day - and you hoped it wasn't Eggs, Chopped with Ham or Beans and Mofos (also affectionately known as bullets and bombs).

AO-
Haven't had the pleasure of the new LRRPs, ate more than my share of the old ones.
