Bound to happen sooner or later when we go to the well over an over without replenishing it.
A while back I heard a division guy say he was about to an 82nd Infantry Division instead of the 82nd Airborne Division.

Yeah, whatever. Maybe you should talk to the aircraft mechs more and listen less to the papers. Typical political propaganda by people trying to get their program in the spotlight. The C-103's have performed extremely well and with proper maintenance they will last longer. The problem with the military's higher ups is that they fail to realise that newer is not always better (can you say Osprey?). These contracts on these new military technologies are lining the pockets of a LOT of congressmen these day (or their constituents). So they can blow it out their asses.
Signed,
Former military aircraft mechanic

A 50 year old aircraft with no replacement in sight flying more than ever before?
The best mechanics in the world can only do so much with that bad formula. I've seen them, they work their asses off, but everything has a limit.

The airframes aren't new, just refurbished. Plus they are having some software issues with the J's. It was pushed into service before all of the bugs were worked out. It is no Osprey, but it is giving the crew chiefs some headaches.
it would probably be cheaper in the long run to retool and build new airframes than start from scratch to design and build a replacement.
In a pinch some C-160's would be nice, especially for places in the CENTAF AOR.

At $63,000,000, it could take a long while to replace the fleet.
The J model aircraft has problems, serious problems, look it up on google.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Probably not an option because they are NIH/NMH.
