New Garmin

Good Afternoon folks.

Has anyone here had any experience using Garmin's new Foretrex 101?

I have a friend who uses one when he runs in new areas and doesn’t know the distance of his route before hand. For that, it works great. If you want to use it to replace a cycling computer or to give you pace and distance during a run I don’t think there is a better device out there.

If you want to use it for serious land nav you may want to check one of the other units like the Vista and Legend. The Foretrex doesn’t load map software like the others. And I’m not positive on this, but I don’t think it will give your location as a UTM coordinate either.

I think you may be refering to the forerunner series.
