SOCOM Helos train in Denver
.......or is someone in Denver being banned?
I'm sure some of you have heard about the SOCOM helicopters buzzing around downtown Denver these past few days.
They've been training at the old Childern's Hospital and around the old Gates rubber factory. Both places are being demolished, and make great training platforms.
This has got some of the people downtown, in some what of "tizzy" (a nice way of saying "got their panties in a bunch").
Here's a couple of videos already posted on the net, about the training. It's from a "whacked out" group called We Are Change Colorado . I would have posted something better, but they do have some GREAT shots of the "Little Birds", flying against the backdrop of downtown and the Mountains behind.
Be forewarned.....each vid is about 10 minutes long.

Here's the story from the Denver Post.
Quote:
Helicopters buzz downtown Denver, part of anti-terrorism training
The Denver Post
Black choppers in the night skies over downtown Denver have more to do with terrorism than the Democratic National Convention, the mayor's office said tonight.
The Department of Defense is training each night this week through Friday. Monday and Tuesday night city residents were alarmed by the unexplained low-hovering war planes.
Mayor John Hickenlooper's office issued a statement that federal agencies were supposed to make the public aware of the training "to prevent surprise and inconvenience."
"There seems to have been a misunderstanding about the reach and scope of these notifications, and they did not occur in the manner expected by the city," according to the statement.
A half dozen choppers have been noticable over the Pepsi Center, the site of the August convention, and Monday night Denver police said the aircraft were training for convention security.
The mayor's office said Denver was fortunate to be the site of the federal training.
"Should there ever be an emergency here that would require federal assistance, they will be familiar with our city and how best to navigate it," according to the mayor's office.

I looked up their website. Yep, they're a bunch of whackos. They hate everybody and love Ron Paul. Weird people.

"Those guys have no clue what this flag really means"
I HIGHLY doubt that!
"Constitutionally they have no right to do this"
Again, I really doubt that.
Those people have no clue whats actually going on. People like that really grind my gears. *rant over*
That was some pretty cool footage of the training though. Looks like a lot of fun.

I like how in the second video, the commentator tells the kid he's been "fragged". Ridiculous.

Negative.
These exercises are conducted regularly across the country.

Nice Marmot, Man
LMAO!!
I like how the fellas gave the kid a cool Souvenir, that is if the hippie scum doesn't keep the Chemlight/Name tape as evidence of their "oppressor's Identity".
I still remember seeing 160th Black Hawks over DFW when I was a kid.
Good stuff for sure.
Good times,

You know, they used to annoy me as well. However they have become so nutty, that they are little more than comic relief in my life. The thought that men that volunteer to protect the Constitution would follow an order of martial law seems contradictory to me. Saying that "Constitutionally they can't do this" is absurd and would have to include the defense of Pearl Harbor, the Mexican American War and the Civil War. Could you imagine if the Navy had said, "Oh well, this is up to the Hawaiian Police to take care of." There is a difference between acting in a policing capacity and defending ones homeland from foreign attack, and an act of terrorism is certainly a foreign attack.
Besides, this may have been a joint training operation with the FBI's HRT and a non-existent military unit. Or just HRT, or I don't know who else. That is what these agencies are there for. Do I need to know what agency saved my butt from a dirty bomb? Or that there was even a dirty bomb threat? Hell no, I just need to thank God for those people that allow me to eat my cereal in peace every damn morning.
So the next time you see one of these bark humping hippies driving down the road in their cars plastered with "Obama '08" stickers, just point and laugh at them as you pass them by. I do, and my son does too now.

I agree completely. I was watching these videos in a thread on a similar site a week or two ago when my father was visiting, and we were almost on the floor laughing. When he started talking about black ninjas in helicopters "buzzing" his car on the freeway then picked out some random person on the street to try handing already made propaganda discs to about WTC/9-11 my gut hurt from laughing.
Looks like fun training though, I bet the boys were having a good time

Well, I guess you guys are far ahead of me in your acceptance of the existance of the wacko mentality as a simple fact of life. With time I too have learned to roll my eyes, shake my head and just laugh at this sort of people but they still do annoy me.
I was just talking a few days ago with some girl trying to convice me that U.S. forces killed "minimum" 30,000 iraqi civilians in the Second Battle of Falluja. Now, with one million troops per side the nazis and communists managed to kill only 40,000 civilians in the 8-months long Battle of Stalingrad. I know Americans are efficient people, but this would be too much even for them.
I do laugh, but I cannot avoid to get a bit annoyed too.
Also I found out they have no sense of humor (at least the italian ones). I often try to sdramatize telling jokes like that I'm secretely a bocor and the urn on my desk contains the soul of the last pacifist I turned into a zombie, offering to provide them with the e-mail of the "Great Leader of the neocon global secret council" or by whispering in their ear that "my sources" assure me of the existence of a secret Nevada training facility were Delta Force is training mutants genetically modified for desert warfare. I even proposed to candidate the Green Berets for the Nobel Peace Prize once, but at best I receive blank stares back. No sense of humor.
