I've posted this before but I couldn't find it on my search........My Dad and I were at a ball game in Chicago one afternoon...........As we rose to heard the Star Spangled Banner, one of the men yelled
trying to selling beer during the playing pissed off my Dad,he immediately left his seat and headed for the guy....... My Dad is just slightly over 5 feet tall but that didn't stop him from grabbing that guy and told him to shut up or ..... He did............My Dad really made me proud of him that day.......... My Dad was a combat medic in the Pacific for 3 1/2 tears during WW2...........

The best singer of the anthem I have ever heard is Kathleen Battle. My favorite instrumental version and personal preference is done by a solo trumpet.

Mark,
It's funny, my Dad's is too...he was first chair naval academy band Trumpet...and an amazing arranger, and musician.
It is good to focus on songs that can lift us up...especially nowadays.

Have heard more people sing The Star Spangled Banner than I could guess. Most have been OK. Some disgusting and a few very few spectacular. After Listening/watching Whitney Houston sing it in 1991 at the Super Bowl in Tampa, that to me became the BEST that I had ever heard and remains so. However, after listening to Sandi Patty sing it, her rendition is right there next to Whitney`s.
Outstanding!!!
Watched a program yesterday on the history of song. There is now a voice coach that only trains those chosen to sing The Star Spangled Banner exclusively as it is such a difficult song to even come close to singing properly.

Well if any are in the area in September, head over to Fort McHenry September 9 & 10 this year for Defender's Day weekend.
Unfurling of the replica Star Spangled Banner is pretty amazing (Saturday night). Having been on the team handling the flag for launch, it is a beast at 30' x 42' and can be "weather dependent" should the winds be too high.

Awesome, Ft. McHenry is about an hour from me. I think I may plan a visit on the 9th of September. What a wonderful sight to see our grand old flag flying like a beacon; what a emotional image. It always makes me teary eyed hearing the anthem and seeing our flag in all it's glory. Funny, I live so close and have only been there once, shame on me. Thanks for the info, I need to mark that on my calendar.

12B4S,
So glad you liked it! At the concert, the tears flowed from a lot of folks, who were very moved by all of her songs about America, and its Military personnel.
An incredible talent, with a heart of gold...as during our meeting she embraced my sis, with tears in her eyes, using sign language.
In these days we are living in, it is refreshing to hear the voice of a genuine Patriot, and with a video as good as this one, honoring our troops!
