How Many Showed Up??
PSA
There is an article on the WTOP DC news site. It attempts to show the crowds that have been at the different inaugurations.
link: How did Trump’s inauguration crowd compare? (Photos)
They even show other DC Mall confluences, like the Million Man March, Oct 1995 and America's 200th BD, July 1976.
The odds of your attempt to guesstimate the crowd numbers can be compared to the guy at the county fair trying to win a Kewpie Doll for his girl playing the Ring Toss..
OR guessing the number of peanuts in a 55 gal drum.
YMMV, Vastly
PS: I think the WTOP article is bias,, but they tried..
Here is one slide,, Look at it, make your own observations and GUESSES.

One thing
One thing - I know a person who went up for the inauguration.
He said he couldn't get through the access point onto the Mall. They had shut it down due to the protests which was one of the goals of the protesters. What the heck? Do they fence off the Mall completely? Read somewhere on the internet that at least some access points had metal detectors which also slowed things down.
He said there were many, many people in the same boat. And going through one point prior to the Mall security even took his apple.
With that, I'd say Trump's and Obama's were pretty close.

Wait! There are consequences for their actions? What the hell? If they'd known that they might be held for more than just overnight...

Most of the approximately 230 protesters arrested on Inauguration Day will be charged with felony rioting, federal prosecutors said.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the offense is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The office said most of those arrested will be released without having to post bail and must return to court in February.

Guess what snowflakes, they have a safe space for you called prison.

According to D.C. Officials at least 500k additional people mostly female attended President Trump's inauguration on Saturday. Also reported in the news nearly 2.5 million participated in outdoor activities in all major cities around the world.
President Trump has so far managed to wake up the silent majority in favor of him and equally piss off the major minority against him all at the same time. Not even Bush 43 and Obama could manage that.

The issue over attendance numbers is a non-issue. POTUS's preoccupation with it, including wasting time on it during his speech at CIA is unbecoming. If he is going to war with the media, and Spicer's "briefing" yesterday was a declaration of war, perhaps he should stop issuing ammuntion to the enemy.

I believe thou doth protest too much.
I also doubt his message was directed to the media, but rather to the silent majority. The media can make it's own ammo, and Joe Q Public is getting tired of it.

There is plenty on which to call out the media. The people are on to them and I certainly love it when they're caught in lies and their bias is exposed. If the media, however, can continue to get under Trump's skin by deliberately tweeking his ego they will continue to do so. Yes, they can make their own ammo so why hand them more?

Hopefully this will finally put the crowd-gate controversy to rest.

I don't take it as getting under his skin, but rather a conscious decision to start off on day one calling bullshit while the MSM continues to push the "illegitimate" narrative on behalf of their Democrap masters. He either puts up a fight, or let them punk him and his admin unopposed for his whole term.
I can hardly wait until they move the press briefings out of the small briefing room, send out invites to regional and local news organizations to attend and then start calling on the smaller affiliates rather than the reps for the major MSM in retaliation for their bullshit.
POTUS Twitter is one way to wrest the initiative and control of the narrative from an obviously biased MSM... the other will be to add reporters in the room from the many red areas around the country.
Trump being nice or "more presidential" is not going to win him anything. RESULTS are the only thing that will do it. For him to worry about anything else right now is, IMO, not productive. He was hired by millions of voters across the Republic to break shit. And that's what this voter for one expects him to do.

Wouldn't it be interesting if, while drawing MSM attention on this 'crowd-size' non-issue, the administration was quietly getting other business done without the focus of the yappy dogs?

Maybe it should be pointed out that the average Trump supporter had to work on Inauguration day.
Unlike the last guy
