"The move is designed to redirect money to align with war-fighting needs"
High on this list of defense spending priorities...
-A green Navy
-Using the military to fight climate change
-Gender integration
-Trans gender integration
Low on the list
-Mess hall funding

If a combat Infantryman marches on the needs of his stomach then I guess this move makes perfect sense.
Either we don't need men or we no longer need the Infantry.
Beans and Bullets and I hear the bullets have already been in short supply.
Give everyone an EBT card on enlistment, save the hassle for later...

Is that part of the tradition of "work yourself out of a job?"
I watched (with a strong stomach) as the suits & uniforms on the hill this morning tried to convince some Senators that F-35 was on track*. One politician pointed pointed out that the reduction of a few jets in the final quantity would put 650 Special Operations Soldiers in the field. They were no more impressed by that than they've been over that stupid CAS role.
* Defined as all operational variants fielded by 2040. Yep. Twenty.Forty.

Eh they don't even really need a chow hall at Camp Mackall. No one out there is hungry anyway.
