Massive fire at Address hotel in Dubai

Fire breaks out at The Address hotel, Downtown Dubai.

Dubai: A massive fire broke out at The Address Hotel, not far from the Burj Khalifa Tower, around which thousands of people have gathered to watch the New Year fireworks.

Firefighting teams were dispatched. Officials said authorities are currently on site to deal with the incident.

Having been thru Dubai quite a few times in recent years, a few related things stood out to me:

1) how crap everything seems scratching just beneath the surface

2) building and fire code must be pretty crap having seen 1 high rise fire and 2-3 high rises with scorch marks on top floors/roof when walking/running around the place

3) a good friend who lives there who refuses to live anywhere in Dubai that he can't evacuate from the windows.


That place is all schizophrenic style with no substance in my personal opinion.
