Popcorn Popper??
OK, looking at a popper, Need some input on the pro's & con's of pre-packaged vs pop you own..
Looking at the old fashion Presto PopLite Hot Air Popper.

Pre-packaged is easy, but I'm not wild about nuk'n oils and the amount of salt,, I am a FOG who watches my BP..

I stick with a hot air popper... on a newer model now which seems to be (shockingly) not as durable as the previous one (which is over 15 years old) but still cranks out some good popcorn. The older model Cuisinart seemed to leave fewer unpopped kernels though.
Toss in organic, non-GMO popcorn from Trader Joe's and a little melted coconut oil on there (powdered garlic and/or chipotle pepper to taste).

That is the one I have. Not too big so it stores easily. The only thing is it is very strong so I have to set the bowl close to the exhaust or it blows them out. It pops the corn in a very fast time.
Stay away from stove poppers they are a pain to clean......

Sorry to hear you can't properly lubricate your popcorn. I use a one gallon sauce pan. Put peanut oil in the bottom, put in a few kernels, turn the heat up high. Wait for the first one to pop, cover the bottom with popcorn, reduce heat, pop until it stops. My favorite topping is cheese and bacon grease. BP was 125/78 and cholesterol was 112.

You can make your own microwave popcorn with a brown paper bag, a teaspoon of oil, and a little salt.
(May not be what you're looking for, if you really don't want to nuke oil. But maybe someone else might like the idea.)
Recipe here.
Cleanup is easy.
I find those hot-air poppers to be a huge pain. Mostly because they blow the popcorn right out of the bowl and all over the kitchen. I have to create a cover with tinfoil to keep the popcorn funneled into the bowl.

We had an air popper go up in flames. We now use this --> Nordic Ware bowl in the microwave. Once you get the timing down it works like a champ, with or without oil. Check the measurements and make sure it'll fit your microwave.

Yep! I don't use oil, though. Just toss it in the bag, roll the top a few times and nuke until the popping is down to one pop every couple of seconds. Dump it in a bowl and pour in some micro melted butter with Tabasco and some salt and toss.  (TS is going to hate this.  )

Excellent repurposing initiative, Sir. If you pop popcorn in it afterwards, it would lend a nice flavor to the movie food.
