US Atty Lynch to replace AG Holder
Quote:
WASHINGTON – President Obama has chosen Loretta Lynch, the U.S. attorney in Brooklyn, N.Y., as his nominee to replace outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder -- ending widespread speculation over who might fill Holder's shoes and teeing up a nomination debate during the lame-duck session.
Though several Republicans had urged Obama to wait until the new Congress is seated, the president plans to announce his pick on Saturday.
"Ms. Lynch is a strong, independent prosecutor who has twice led one of the most important U.S. Attorney's Offices in the country," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement. "She will succeed Eric Holder, whose tenure has been marked by historic gains in the areas of criminal justice reform and civil rights enforcement."
Lynch, 55, is a Harvard Law School graduate and popular prosecutor who is currently serving her second stint as U.S. attorney.
She was appointed by Obama in 2010. If confirmed to fill Holder's post, she would be the first black female attorney general.

I'd like one of the Senators to ask her if she believes, like Holder, that white people can't be victims of hate crimes because they're not "members of a historically disadvantaged class."
No matter; she'll likely be in office for a shorter term overall than Holder was able to stonewall on just one scandal - that's like coasting.
ABC has some of her big cases listed here.

All things considered, based on her five big cases that ABC news showcased, I can't see how she would be worse than EH.
Hell, she might even do an okay job.

My daughter works with Loretta Lynch daily, she was over the moon with the nomination for AG, stating that she was extremely fair and nonpartisan. Respectful to everyone, regardless of position.

That's good to hear, from a good source. Maybe there's hope... (And I don't mean that in a "hope and change" way)
Well, maybe, do the job correctly...

That is truly refreshing news. It's actually nice to hear that someone in that position is "fair and nonpartisan"...two words that haven't applied to that position for a while now.

The real question, is will she obey the law, or the President?

IMO, she's nothing more than Eric Holder in drag.

If she was truly non-partisan and wanted to impress us, she would address many of those issues that were previously neglected and brushed aside.
It will be interesting to see how she handles her confirmation when she is hopefully questioned about many of those issues and what her stance on them is.

Between Holder and Koskinen, she has a pretty good set of references as to how much can be 'not' done. And then there's decorum; there will be a honeymoon period.
