"A recent editorial column here at the PanAm Post spoke of the failures of the opposition parties in Venezuela and their culpability in the collapse of their country. The article raises some very important questions about democracy itself. Democracy, after all, is a very good system, and can produce some very positive results. However, it is also a system fraught with incredible danger.

Democracy represents the will of the people, but it also represents their whims, their fears, and their prejudices...."

That's why we are NOT a democracy - we are a Constitutional Republic. BIG difference. Unfortunately, most Americans don't know this little fact and confuse the issues.

Also unfortunately, we are rapidly becoming a de-facto democracy. hence, the unraveling of our nation. Hell - it was good while it lasted. (Now I have to go back to work to feed the looters and gimmiedats).

We were more like a Constitutional Republic but look more like a Democracy since the 17th Am.

Can't argue with any of the above. I just say let's get it on while we're young and can influence the battle. Pretty soon, the gimmiedats, looters and free-stuffers will be so many that they'll smother us before we can move.
