DoD budget proposal calls for loss of Fort Bragg aircraft

DoD budget proposal calls for loss of Fort Bragg aircraft

http://www.fayobserver.com/news/loca...f594c62ed.html

Make Pope an Army Air Field and see what the AF does. No A/C at Pope? Home of the Airborne? Man, that's about ate up.

"..."We're talking about America's readiness force with special operations and the 18th Airborne Corps, and having access to C-130s for training rather than waiting for them to fly in as needed from other installations," Peters said. "I think it would be a disadvantage to the Airborne and 18th Airborne Corps. To me, they were positioned there for a reason and because they are key components to what those folks do every day."...."

I bet some people in the local community are going to miss that $77.8 million dollars. So what USAF unit is going to fill that void and where are they located? Kind of hard to imagine Greenramp without a few rows of C-130s parked outside.

Love the way post uses Special a Operation in Verify to get the C1 30s back at Pope. Heck when do we ever jump out of them can never get them. We are the baste red children on post, yet post and 18th Vorp will use our elements in their organize for funding, resources etc. BS

Didn't I read somewhere the 18th & 82nd was going LEG?
And all SF was going HALO??

Could impact the "needs" statement for Bragg..

The next step is to get rid of all those (mission essential) Airborne slots at Corps.

Special Ops forces were talked about as being a focus for the new military structure, I wonder just what they have in mind for that "new force structure"?

82nd SOF, 101st SOF, 1st ID SOF, 10th Mtn SOF etc etc with a new Tab...."Regular Special Forces" and an abbreviated "Q" course.
