Police: Robbery victim shoots, kills robber in Fern Park
FERN PARK, Fla. —
A man shot and killed another man who was trying to rob him at an ATM at the Fairwinds Credit Union in Fern Park on Friday night, police said.
Investigators said the victim was approached by two knife-wielding men, who were identified as Justin Slivinski, 24, of Oviedo, and Austin Lee Harvey, 19, of Altamonte Springs, about 10:20 p.m. Friday.
The robbery victim shot Slivinski, police said. Harvey fled from the scene.
Slivinski was taken to Florida Hospital-Altamonte, where he died, police said.
The man using the ATM was not hurt.
Investigators said Harvey was arrested without incident after a citizen provided a tip to authorities. He was charged with attempted armed robbery and homicide because of Slivinski's death.
A statement from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office said the victim of the crime was not hurt and will not face charges. The victim's name was not released.
